Total Paid Out: $2,529.00
Crazy 8s went off without a hitch with 9 bowlers trying to
"Win Their Way In" to the main tournament for just $5! Little did we know at the time that our Crazy 8s winner; Leon Pitcher, would end up having an awesome day! With some improvement over last week's numbers the Tour had 38 entries with 8 Members sharing in$2,529.00 paid out on the "Cash List". Brian Blackman found his way to 4 Taps and picked up a COOL $100.00 from the Jackpot! Leon found himself in the zone when he broke the 300 Progressivewith 10 Natural strikes and just 2 taps. He picked up $86 from the pot!
After the first squad was completed, the scores on the Leaderboard were under our target range as no one was able to crack the 900 mark. Michelle Dungan was in first with a 897 series. With a nice field of 19 at 2:30, the scoring started to improve as 9 Members broke 900. One of those Members, Leon Pitcher, improved upon his first squad score of 866 with an awesome 1013 with his 300. David Lankford improved to a 977 and Derrick Chan upped his number to 939 to round out the Top 3 with one squad to go. As recent tournaments have shown, the Leaderboard can always be shaken up in the last squad of the day and today was no exception. While Leon would hold onto the Top Spot for his 7th Career Tour Title and $809.00 for his bank account, Tony Madolora would close out his set with an awesome 286 game for a 992 series and 2nd place finish worth $374.00! This would push David into a 3rd place finish pocketing $212.00 for his efforts. Congratulations Leon on your 7th career Title and to the rest of the "Cash List"! It was an exciting day of bowling as everyone who cashed all had a chance to win the tournament. The Tour prides itself on having a format that creates such a level playing field for all its Members.
Leon Pitcher is one of our original 100 Members in Las Vegas. Going into this event, he already had an impressive lead in the 2017Bowler of the Year race. This win just puts more icing on the cake for that award. A slot tech for over 11 years, Leon used his Storm HyRoad drilled by Brian at K & K Suncoast. Leon knows going in that he can't afford to miss a spare in the middle of a game since his handicap is -11. Every shot is a make or break situation. Leon now holds a record of having the lowest handicap (-11) in LV 9-Tap Tour history to win a Title! That is a huge accomplishment! Congrats Leon on #7!
