Total Paid Out: $2,612.00
Crazy 8s kick-started competition this weekend at the Gold Coast. This week 12 contestants competed and re-bought in to create 22 entries, which took 10 rounds to present the last man standing with an entry into the main event. This week Norris Montague went head to head for several rounds with George Atkinson, which led to 8s becoming 9s, which worked out in Norris’ favor when George threw an 8 count and Norris getting 9 to win the event, with George settling for a healthy partial entry. We would like to thank Gold Coast and the staff for hosting our 11thevent of the year. With 43 entries, it took a 4 game total of 911 to make the “Cash List”. 8 members made the cut, with the tournament paying out a total of $2,612.00 for the day. Tess Zafra was the sole beneficiary of the No Tap Jackpot when she had the front 4 no taps in the second game of the first squad. Tossing a “natural” strike in the 5th frame thus ending her streak, Tess received $100.00 for her $4.00 investment. Alfredo Basiga tossed four very consistent games, with a 951 series good for 3rd place and a check for $273.00. New Life Member Donald Jones, finished off the day with a 278 game and a 994 series, falling just 5 pins short of first place adding $385.00 to his earnings. Our newest Tour champion is one our original Members, Norris Montague!Norris came into the first squad posting a score of 999. Two squads of competition took aim on that 1000 mark. But all efforts fell short, giving Norris his first tour title and a NICE check for $847.00. A great thing about this win, Norris only had to re-buy into Crazy 8s once before "Winning his way in", and with his $20 into the Progressive pot,$30 was all it took to snag win #1. Great going! Other top finishers were Ejay Zafra II, Leon Pitcher, Corben Etteldorf, Deborah Engelmeyer and Robert Rawling. Congrats to our top 8. We would also like to welcome new members Allen Galloway, Anthony Hudsonand Darlene Spann from Las Vegas, Miles Abernethy from California,Dave and MaryLee Jeffs from Utah and Lindsey La Fontaine, Dan Watts and Michael Anderson in from the Seattle region. Welcome to Vegas! Norris Montague of Las Vegas, has been bowling on the Tour since its inaugural event in November of 2015. His previous best finish was 3rdplace last November at Texas Station. Norris was not available for pictures or to provide us with background information so hopefully we will catch up to him before Wednesday's newsletter is sent out. |
