Wildfire Lanes
Feb. 25th, 2017
Total Paid Out: $2,494.00
Scores were on the high side this week as our Tour condition was accidentally replaced with a condition conducive to higher scores. When this happens the final squad of the day usually suffers for it with lower entries, however, this week some of the higher scores were shot in that squad. Crazy 8s produced a record showing this weekend when 15contestants took the stage to produce 26 entries. This allowed us to award two FULL entries and a partial credit to 3rd place. Bowling in only his 2ndevent since our Three-Region event, Kenny Herbster was this week's “last man standing” after a short bout between Greg Mamac, who finished 2ndbut awarded an entry as well. Ron McGinnis, being one of the most consistent Crazy 8s contestants finished 3rd after 6 rounds in the finals, earning him partial credit toward his tournament entry. As mentioned before, as Crazy 8s continue to grow, more members earn an entry into the main event. The staff at Wildfire graciously provided coffee and donuts for the tour which provided enough caffeine and sugar for the stellar performances thisweekend. With a total of 36 entries, 7 members made their way to the “cash list” paying out a total of $2,494.00. Keeping up with its reputation as the “9 Tap Jackpot House”, Ken James stretched his 9 Tap count to 5, leaving a nasty 8-10 on his 6th shot which cut his run short of the 9-Tap Jackpot, but still good for $250.00, which carries over $3,130.00 to next week at Texas Star Lanes. Wildfire brushed up some hot scores this weekend starting off with Lee Gladish leading the pack with a fine 961. That was good for a free entry into next week’s tournament as he was leader of the first squad. It got even hotter in the 18 lane center with Brian Blackman walking across hot coals to shoot an awesome1160 four game series, giving him his 3rd No Tap Tour Title and a payday of $816.00. Joshua Marlo made a return to the tour in blazing fashion as well, posting a four-game total of 1114, good for 2nd place and a $371.00 check. After using his entry from Crazy 8s, Kenny Herbster improved his score on a second attempt posting a score of 1101, good for a $187.00 payoff. Other top finishers were Stephen Barnes Jr., Lenard Blackman, Ron Christensen and Dale Savage. Congratulations to our top finishers. Brian Blackman of Las Vegas, joined the tour back on February 6th, 2016 at Suncoast. Brian is one of our many, very loyal members, and a 50-year veteran of the game. His previous best finish was 1st place twice, winning at both Red Rock Lanes and Sam’s Town. He guided his Dare Devil by Storm to the finish line, drilled by David Haynes at Haynes Bowling Supply. Brian bowls both the Red Rock Senior Doubles and Red Rock Senior Trios throughout the week. His plans with his winnings, simply just enjoy! He was cheered on by his brother Lenard Blackman, who also found his way to the cash list (Brian’s still buying dinner). Special thanks to Todd Adams in the pro shop at Red Rock for his help and guidance. “I felt I was in total focus”, was a statement by the champ when asked how he felt. Brian would like to thank the 9 Tap Tour Staff as well as Wildfire Lanesfor hosting the Tour. On his spare time, he likes to write poetry and draw. Congratulations on your 3rd title, and see you next week at Texas Station. |
