We had 7 new members join the tour this weekend. We would like to welcome Matthew Whitecotton, Glenn Worthy, Charles Greene, Renita Moore, Bradley Knepper, Weston Riley and Charles Ford to the tour. Crazy 8s continued strong this weekend with 13 contestants competing to win their way in to the main event. There was a total of 23 entries including re-buys, and Norris Montague was our last man standing this week when he out lasted new member Charles Greene. Norris received a $60 entry into the qualifying round while Charles started off his 9 Tap career in a positive way earning a $55 partial entry into the main event. Also, our latest sponsor, James Michael the Redneck Magician, awarded a pair of tickets($100 value) to his show at the Stratosphere to all of the Crazy 8 entrants. The Tour is proud to have James on our team! Tickets will be distributed next week at the Silver Nugget! Last but not least the Top 3 bowlers in each squad received a TEXAS STAR LANES FREE open play pass good for 4 games each day for 30 days. Now for the Tourney recap:Texas Station produced some very fair scores this week only taking a score of 909 to make the "Cash List”. There was a total of $2,924.00 paid out, with the top 10 bowlers earning a check, as well as a 4-way tie for the 9-Tap jackpot. Al Slivka, Rick Rendon, Ann McGee and Bradley Knepper got$25.00 each for their 3 consecutive no-tap strikes. Leon Pitcher got the day started posting as score of 950, good for a free entry into next week’s tournament for being the high qualifier in the first squad. Norris Montague continued his consistency from the Crazy 8s event, finishing with a 942series in the first squad for a spot in 2nd. Dennis Huston showed up to play in the second squad along with new Tour member Weston Riley. Both bowlers finished with very nice matching 993 sets. A nice third squad had many trying to catch the co-leaders to take over the lead, (even Weston tried to improve his score by re-entering) but in the end, both Dennis Huston and Weston Riley earned their first 9 Tap Tour Titles as Co-Champions! When asked if they would like to 'duel or no duel' in a one game Championship Match, the two agreed to share the Title together! Dennis took home a check for $603.00 and Weston pocketed $489.00. The difference being that Dennis was in the $20 progressive and Weston was in for $10. Leon Pitcher captured 3rd place and added $275.00 to his career earnings. Congratulations to our newest Tour Co-Champs! Greg Mamac,Norris Montague, Al Garcia, Ron Christensen, Mark Kight, Ken James and Trent Dungan rounded off the top 10. Dennis Huston of Las Vegas joined the tour back in May of 2016 during our 2nd Quarter Championship. Dennis has been bowling for 30 years andhas had a previous best finish of 6th place on the tour. He says with his winnings, he plans to enter more often. Dennis was being cheered on by both his wife and son. He says that he enjoys the friendly group of bowlers on the Tour and traveling to the different houses the Tour bowls in. In his spare time, Dennis like to golf and go RVing. New member Weston Riley of Las Vegas joined the tour just this weekend! Weston has been bowling for about 1 year, and used his 15lb. Roto GripWrecker also drilled at Santa Fe Lanes where he bowls the Early Birds league. Weston was cheered on by his friends and fellow new members, and plans to share his winnings with the Woods and Waters Charity. Weston is a new resident to Las Vegas and mentioned that the crew was very respectful and knowledgeable about bowling. Outside of bowling, Weston enjoys snowboarding, riding dirt bikes, fishing, hunting and hiking. Welcome to Las Vegas Weston, and congrats again to our newest Co-Champions! |
