South Point Plaza - Las Vegas, NV
January 23rd, 2016
Total Paid Out: $3,744.00
Based on the positive response from so many of our new Members and the 50+joining the Tour on Saturday, all the signs are there... the 9-Tap Tour will be a BIG HIT with the Las Vegas bowlers, just like it's been with the Seattle and Hawaii bowlers. A HUGE Welcome to all the New Members participating at South Point Plaza on Saturday. We appreciated everyone's patience, as we also train an all new Tour staff, who did an excellent job on Opening Day. THANKS to the Staff at South Point for their help and the use of that Fantastic Facility! This weeks low scores were the opposite of the high scoring 'test tournament' we had at Texas Station Thanksgiving weekend. Both were the result of us learning the lane conditions and variables in each Bowling Center. Our goal is to moderate the scoring, to fit within our 'Target Range', in all the Centers hosting the Tour. We will make small adjustments, tuning those scores in at each Center. So, you can expect the scoring to be a little easier, the next time we visit the Plaza. CONGRATS to Tom Hallmark & Elaine Weaver-Purdy who shared the $100.00 from the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation, for their front FOUR 9-Taps. That left the Jackpot to grow to $1,151.00 for next week at the Gold Coast. Also making a BIG leap of over 50% was the Progressive Pot, all the way to a healthy $1,520.00. Due to our new Members unfamiliarity with all the Pots, many didn't enter the Pro. Pot. The result was, going into the last squad, the Top 3 in the standings had zero in the Pot, which would have carried all of the $$$ over to next week. Instead, in the last squad, Dorien Antonio-Martos shot BIG, coming within THREE PINS of Winning the Title, while fully vested in the Pro. Pot. Our first 2016 LV Tour Champion is Don Casanta. That also makes Don the instantleader in our Bowler of the Year competition. He achieved the only 1000+ series of the day without any giant games, but by throwing 4 consistently solid games. Don used his new Columbia 'Raw Urge', drilled by the popular Haynes Bowling Supply, for his nice Win. He and wife Filomena just celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary and his 67th Birthday on Thursday, by both making the Cash List, with Filomena taking 6th Place this week. When we asked if he was retired or still working, his response was, "Retired but still going strong!" His $1,000.00 payday (supplemented by our Guarantee) could have been worth another $500.00 from the Progressive Pot, but Don was nonetheless excited about the Win and he'll also get the Blue Champions Jersey that comes with a Members 1st Title (Red=2nd Title, White=3rd, Gold=4th, Special for 5th). CONGRATS DON for Winning #1!!! Dorien Antonio-Martos also Cashed at Texas Station (9th place) in November, making him two-for-two with the Tour, missing this Title by just 3 pins. He's shot spectacularly both times, as evidenced by his -6 pins handicap and also getting a small piece of the Scratch Pot for his 277 game. Dorien earned a nice $575.00 for his fine effort this week. In 3rd Place, Bob Barnowski hung onto his spot, also by a mere THREE pins over Robert Crane in 4th. Despite also not being in the Pro. Pot, Bob still collected a healthy $210.00 for his 977 series. We hope everyone will help 'Pass the Word' to your fellow bowlers about our Tour. Next week, at the Gold Coast, New Members joining will have the $25 fee for 2016 Membership, but we will also present Special Tour Towels to each New Member. Big THANKS to Chris from 'Out of the Ordinary' for supplying the Towels. Chris will also have some sample Tour Shirts available for next week, at a special price just for Tour Members. One of those shirts will be awarded to Artie Jones, who won the shirt from a drawing, also offered by 'Out of the Ordinary'. |
