9 Tap Jackpot

The 9 Tap Jackpot got a “little exciting” Saturday at Pali Lanes as Wanda Solano strung 5 no taps.  With 5 no taps, Wanda won the consolation bonus of $250, “whoa, that was close Wanda, tell Curtis he makes too many real ones, gotta make fake ones to win the Big Bucks, Nice”.  The Jackpot increases to $5,452.00 for the March 10 Doubles Tournament at Hickam Bowling Center.  The consolation bonuses remain the same, at least through the Hickam tournament.  The Tour gave out mystery envelopes to 9 of our members and as an added incentive Hawaii Bowling Supply, Mike Signaigo, paid out $50 to anyone bowling a natural or no tap 300.  So with that dare, five of our members rolled a 300 and collected HBS monies.  They are Virgil Dela Cruz, Ben Ballesteros, Larry Martin, Glen Lim and Pearl Sedeno.

Saturday’s tournament at Pali produced “a lot and I mean, A Lot of Big Series”.  In fact, if you shot 984, no, no, 993, oh, no! 1004 you didn’t make the cash list.  Yes, Art and Kawika tried not to put a difficult pattern like at Ft. Shafter and yet not put a soft shot.  Well, it is hard to predict what kind of scoring we would have for any particular tournament but Saturday was next to “ridiculous”.  It took a score of 1007 to make the cash list and an 1103 to finish in third.  Ben Ballesteros opened the flood gates when he shot 1097 in the first squad and his score did not hold through the second squad.  Ho!  Along comes Pearl Sedeno, lights it up and turns it off, as she breaks all total pin records with a score of 1212, WOW!!!  Pearl was so on it that she had all of the bowlers cheering for her, even when her shot looked like it would find the gutter, it held on the one board and came roaring back into the pocket for a strike.  That’s when the noise and sound decibels went off the charts, creating more fun, laughter and cheering.  Although the low to cash score was high, the averages and handicaps of bowlers cashing were spread out from a low of 2 to a high of 65.  Yes, we had a great turnout with 73 entries with 15 places.  Pearl wins her second title here in Hawaii and third overall.  She used a Storm Nano that was drilled at Strike’em Pro Shop by Darren.  She says mahalo plenty to all the 9 Tap Tour members for the support, as well as her husband, Ray.  What is she going to do with her winnings of $1,092.00?  Pearl says, “As always, Pay Bills”.
