Bowlero Acme
Jan. 19th, 2025

Total Paid Out: $14,093.00

Wrap Up

For the second week in-a-row, we cracked 200 entries with an identical turnout of 203, which set new records for both Centers.  Bowlero-Acme Manager Jay and his team worked hard to accommodate the expected large numbers, including providing us extra lanes.  If not for some ball return challenges, we would have been able to stay on-time all day.  Otherwise, we had a perfect day with balanced scoring that was so 'Just-Right', it made Goldilocks jealous.  The 'Best 3 of 4' format produced a Cash List of 41 bowlers, with only 2 bowlers shooting over 800, a high of 840 and an ideal low-to-cash of 702, fit our 'Goldilocks Zone' perfectly..

Over the last few months, the GIGANTIC 9-Tap Jackpot seems to have been under constant assault.  Sunday was no exception... first it was Freddie de Guzman, down from B.C., tossing 6-Middle Taps, but on shot #7 a late falling 5-pin derailed that effort.  Then Stephanie Perrine strung the Front-6 Taps, giving her a coveted 'GOLDEN SHOT' for #7.  It's a competitors dream, to throw ONE BALL for the Jackpot... this one would have been worth $8,777.00.  She made an excellent shot that easily could have ended with another 9-Tap, instead she left one too many pins standing.  Hopefully, that wound was soothed a little by collecting a very sweet $750.00 Consolation.

Stephanie's 'Golden Shot' & $750.00 Consolationfor Front 6-taps

1st Place -  Amy Silverhorn, who joined the Tour in July 2022, shot a jaw dropping 840 in her first 3 games, rendering the 4th game irrelevant in this 'Best 3 of 4' format.  She won her very first 9-Tap Tour Title, that was worth a fantastic & well above normal size $2,709.00!  Amy said she wasn’t going to enter Sunday, because she was having a bad morning, but with her 9-Tap family there to cheer her up, she decided to give it a try.  Her excitment level was off the charts after she finished, commenting that she, "Never bowled like that before"!  A check of her stats confirmed her statement... while she's shot big games on the Tour before, they usually lacked company.  This week she found that famous 'groove', topping 200 in all four games, shattering her Personal Best series.  After starting out having a 'bad day', then having her All-Time Best Bowling Day, that clearly confirms the adage, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GONNA BE YOUR DAY... which usually happens when you least expect it!  Amy wanted to thank her bowling family for cheering her on: Hubby Charles Daughery Jr., Tina TranJohnny SengChandra MartinezMontana Xaysana, and Adam Steen.

2nd Place – Ponciano Rudio, who first joined the Tour in 2003, earning 2 Titles by 2005.  The 81 year old rejoined the Tour in 2023 earning Title #3 last June.  He was the only other bowler shooting above 800 Sunday and he had a shot at the lead, but couldn't quite get over the hurdle in the last game.  He shot an awesome 818 series that included his Personal Best game, a spectacular SCRATCH 287, which produced a hefty payday of $1,203.00

3rd Place – Alex Cady was gunning for his 3rd Title.  He's really worked hard on his game and his improvement over the last year has been impressive.  His excellent 798 series, also included his Personal Best game, tossing a 250 scratch in his third game.  Earning a $572.00 payday was a nice 1st check for 2025.
