Wrap Up

The 9-Tap Tour went to Southcenter this week to Bowlero Lanes - Acme for our popular Best 3 out of 4 format.  With an amazing 159 entries, the scoring was impressive, right on target from top to bottom, not the slightly lower scores that we have had in the past.

Whenever Tour bowlers face an unexpected challenge, they never cease to impress, not just us, but often the House Staff as well.  A HUGE 2nd Squad started with us having to turn away bowlers, even adding an extra pair wasn't enough.  Then a program glitch, that couldn't be fixed until after the squad, wouldn't correctly score the 9-Taps... no problem, everyone stepped up and the corrections were made as we bowled.  All taken in stride by our bowlers, which certainly impressed the House Manager, and was appreciated by us, as always.

The 9-Tap Jackpot for the 3rd straight week was not threatened too much this week.  It was tough for just about everyone to get the Front-3 Taps.  For example, Walt Dalrymple got the front-2, but in the 3rd frame a slow falling 9-pin gave him a real strike, before hitting the next 4 9-Taps.  One person, Andy Snow, succeeded in getting the Front-3 9-Taps and the $50 consolation prize.  The 9-Tap Jackpot will be at $2,594 at the next tournament.

This week's champion, 78 year-old Chuck Hufford, won his 7th Tour Championship, coming out of the gates with an incredible 858 that no one could catch.  This is Chuck's 3rd championship in the last 8 months. Chuck wore his Dexter Pro Am II shoes while throwing his 16 pound Columbia Throttle-R Accelerator.  Chuck, who retired from the Tacoma News Tribune's Sports Dept. 20 years ago, said his main point of concentration was hitting his mark and staying consistent.  Chuck rarely puts any money into the Progressive Pot this week which will make for big payouts the next tournament.  Chuck still won a $1,100 check for his great bowling.  Congratulations Chuck!

Taking 2nd place this week, making a run for back-to-back titles, Jordan Heil shot an outstanding 828.  Jordan bowled all three squads this week, and would have cashed in all of them.  Jordan's hot shooting earned him $907 this week, and a total of $3,167 the last two weeks.

From veteran to first timer, Brandon Parker scored 821 to take 3rd place this week.  After shooting in a prior squad Brandon got lined up and earned himself a nice $369 check.  With Brandon being a newcomer to the Tour and only allowed by rule to put $10 into the Progressive Pot, and Chuck not playing in the Progressive Pot this week, we will have a jumbo Progressive at Angel of the Winds in two weeks.
