Daffodil Bowl
February 20th, 2022

Total Paid Out: $9,427.00

Wrap Up

We rolled into Daffodil Bowl on a Sunday with a '3-Game' format to test the feasibility, which gives us the scheduling flexibility to fit into more Centers.  All bowlers participating Sunday should give themselves a pat on the back, for helping us to finish every squad on time, including getting off the lanes by our 4pm limit, despite having 50 or more bowlers in every squad.  Even with lanes with up to 6 on a pair, everyone pushed the pace to complete the 3 games in under two hours.  We had a huge turnout, with 158 entries, boosting the 'CASH LIST' to a huge 32 Places.  Once again, scoring was right in the 'Goldilocks Zone'... Just Right!  Our previous '3-Game' Tournament produced only ONE bowler shooting over 800 and this was duplicated again Sunday.  In addition to that one 800 series, we had a very reasonable low to cash at just 691.  The Top Score was in jeopardy all day, with several bowlers sharing their frustration at letting the lead get away in their last game.  Not surprisingly, the lead changed hands every squad.  The 9-Tap Jackpot stood at $6,993.00 to start the day and with the recent history of 3 BIG $500.00 paydays in our last three visits, we were prepared for more of the same.  We were amazed when nobody exceeded the Front-3 Taps, though Lisa Seifert came close to the Middle 7-Taps, only to be foiled  by a strike in the middle.  Just a note here, Lisa did finish with a nice 778 series, for a 4th place finish.  At the end of the day we had 6 bowlers tied with the Front-3 Taps, each collecting $50.00 each, still tapping the Jackpot for $300.00.  The winners were Magic Bristol, Parker Nist, Brian Selck, Joseph Albrecht, James Black, and Ruong Tang.

One Moore Time: Our Champion this week at Daffodil Bowl is Ohnja Moore.  Now a two time ChampionOhnja now ties his dad, John "UNDERTAKER" Moore Jr, who just won his second title at Narrows Plaza last week.  Ken Griffey Jr & Ken Griffey Sr had historic Back-to-Back Home Runs... now for the first time in Tour history, John Moore Jr & Ohnja Moore have Back-to-Back Tour Titles!  Ohnja had been slumping since Winning the 2QC last May.  Nice way to break out of that slump, firing a 172 in his first game, then getting lined up finishing with 248 & 276 games to total a beautiful 837 series.  With the only 800 series shot this weekend, Ohnja brings home a fantastic check of $2,062.00.  Ohnja's 'Secret Weapon' was his STORM 'Phaze 2', drilled by Robert Kelly at Secoma Lanes.  He also would like to thank his family, Dad, brother John Jr. and Lil sis Nae Nae

Daffodil Champion Ohnja Moore

After just returning from Las Vegas where he was bowling in the True Amateur, Tim Fierro held on for 2nd Place Sunday.  Tim had his struggles in Vegas and we gave him a hard time that he had to come home to recoup some of his losses.  Tim was leading after the second squad, shooting a nice 796 series with three very consistent games.  Tim has been shooting lights out lately, after finishing in 5th place in his previous entry at Skyway.  This would have been his 2nd title at Daffodil Lanes and his 4th overall, if he hadn't been caught by Ohnja.  Tim has been a fixture on the Cash List lately and with this 2nd Place finish, Tim gets a nice check of $935.00 to add to that Hot Streak.

Finishing in 3rd Place was Kai Pedro, shooting an excellent 806 scratch series, but with is -6 pins handicap, he comes in with a 788 total.  Kai is a two time Champion, including our 3QC last year, which was also held at Daffodil Bowl.  Kai is one of our higher average bowlers and is always a contender at each event. Kai cashes in for nice 3rd place check of $501.00, PLUS the extra $215.00 he picked up from the Scratch Pot
