Bowlero South Seattle
January 15th, 2022

Total Paid Out: $7,450.00

Wrap Up

This is the Tours first singles event of the year and our popular 'Best 3 of 4' format.  115 bowlers laced up their shoes at the very nice and newer facility of Bowlero-Acme in Southcenter.  We had predicted slightly lower scoring for Saturday and although scores were still a little low, they were higher than our three 2021 visits. We had a high score of 800 and every Member shooting over 700 made the Cash List which paid 23 places this week.  The battle for the Top Spot was indeed fantastic and very tight.  It came down to the last few shots by a few final squad bowlers, before the outcome was decided.  The Top 3 finishers were all on Re-Entries, obviously taking advantage of getting lined up from their first try.  Each one had large improvements on the second try, with the Winner getting almost 100 pins better.  We had some bowlers who were just on fire, like Will Twyman who bowled all three squads tossing series all above 700 each time.  The Championship was up for grabs all day, with many players just one frame away from capturing the crown. This was exciting to watch, as are most tight competitions.  With the 9-Tap Jackpot at $8,611.00, we were hoping to see a few bowlers make a run at the Pot.  Joyce Roberts performed a rare feat, stringing 7 straight 9 counts, but they all have to be the first shot.  She had the first 3 Taps, a gutter ball followed by a 9 count on her 2nd shot and then the next 3 Taps, which could have been worth $750.00

There were two players all day that had the Front 4-TapsBill Jones and Ed LeBaron.  This brought them each a $150.00 payoff.  Good Job!!. The Jackpot grows again to $8,746.00 for next week

Our Champion this week earns his first Tour TitleEddie Burdsall Eddie originally joined the Tour back in 2007 and after several years away, he returned in 2018.  Eddie has had many 2nd & 3rd place finishes, but never quite reached that Top Spot.  After shooting a 601 series in the 2nd squad, Eddie re-entered and just caught on fire, shooting the only 800 series of the day.  Using his Storm 'Hyroad Pearl' that his twin brother Greg gave him, he had Robert Kelly at Secoma Bowl redrill it with a pin down layup.  He said this ball would go longer down the lanes and gave him the look he wanted.   Looking back in his history this last year, Eddie has been improving every week, bringing his average up by 10 pins.  Look out Greg, Eddie is on a mission to catch you in titles. Eddie cashed in Saturday with a nice check of $1,818.00.

Bowlero-Acme Champion Eddie Burdsall.

Our 2nd Place finisher this week, was also our Year-End Champion last month, a still very HOT Jay Pannette.  Jay shot a sweet 786 series and was the leader after the 2nd squad, until Eddie overtook him. Jay had an excellent chance of taking his second title, but fell about one strike short of the Top Spot.  He did finish like a Champ, with his high game of the day.  Jay seems to be on one of the those hot streaks like we all can get on, so watch out for Jay in the coming weeks.  Jays 2nd Place earns him a very nice $827.00 payday.

Try as he might, Will Twyman finished in 3rd Place this week.  With two previous 2nd place finishes under his belt last year, Will is just like many before him, coming teasingly close a few times, before finally braking through... just like Eddie Burdsall did this week.  Will was one of the bowlers who was just on fire this weekend.  Will ripped off amazingly consistent series of 756, 782 & 728 in his 3 entries.  Just finishing 18 pins short of the title, he is one of the people to watch out for.  Will took home a sweet check of $423.00 for his effort.
