Daffodil Bowl
February 23rd, 2019

Total Paid Out: $9,197.00

Wrap Up

As we visited Daffodil Bowl for the first time this year, we filled the building all day, making for our best turnout so far this year! In all, there were 156 total entries with 32 making the Cash List! It's not Spring yet, but we had  several bowlers who returned from hibernation as we hadn't seen them in awhile, ranging from six months to several years. WELCOME BACK everyone!  We also had SEVEN new bowlers so welcome to Katrina Jones, Joe DeLaCruz, Jordan Pangelinan, Mike Bradley, Robert Herring, Scott Hammersmith & Mike Hammersmith.

Scoring was very much on target this week as six bowlers broke 1000, including at least one over that mark in each squad. The Cut Line found a tie in the final spot as one of those previsouly mentioned hibernating bowlers, JohnGruen found himself alongside Donnie Roberts at 920. Good thing for Donnie was that he was above the line this time!

As is always the case at Daffodil, there were lots of 9 taps! This week, however stringing taps proved to be a challenge as just four (that we can recall) bowlers managed to string up to five, but only one of those was from the beginning of the game as Collins Davis threw the front five, earning $250.00.  Collins threw too good of a shot for his sixth, burying the pocket for a perfect shot!  More on Collins day further down...With the big turnout, the Jackpot thrived, jumping well over $300 to a massive $7,100.00 as we head to Secoma Lanes in a couple of weeks!

Willie Downing was 6th on Saturday as he shot 1005, as Steve Wilson bowled all day, saving his best for last with a 5th Place 1024 set. Thang Duc Thai wound up 3rd with his impressive 1042 as he was edged out by a RED HOTMike Miller who wound up at 1043 for 3rd Place and $493.00. In 2nd Place was that youngster, Collins Davis  as he had a super day!  We already mentioned his Jackpot earnings...well, his 2nd Place 1062 was his best performance yet on Tour and with that comes his best pay day as he earned a total of $1,160.00.  You could see the pride on his Dad's face (Peter Davis). Great bowling, Collins!

Nathan Koprek fired 1073 early in the day, then had tohold on for about six hours to see if his score would survive. Davis & Miller were the two closest in pursuit, but it turned out to be Nathan's day as he went home, returning with his Father just as the final squad began. Nathan has been on the Tour for a couple of years now, but shortly after joining in June of 2017, Nathan was the victim of a viscious robbery which included his being attacked with a baseball bat. Nathan's Father told us that after he was rushed to Harborview Hospital, they weren't sure if Nathan was even going to survive. With the trauma of this story behind him along with the stress of the insuing trial where his attackers were convicted, Nathan is still recovering from his injuries, but has come a LONG WAY!  Nathan said, he plans to hang on to his $1,550.00 pay check for a down payment on a car soon. When asked about his day, Nathan said "I found my groove during practice and just went on from there".
