Wrap Up

We start off this week by acknowledging how it never ceases to amaze us how our 9 Tap Tour bowlers can adapt to overcome some of the most adverse conditions. Most of our tournaments go smoothly from start to finish and we had already anticipated a snag or two with our first ever visit to Angel of the Winds.  That said, being limited to just 16 lanes only to find out first thing Saturday morning that we were actually down to 14 and even worse, once we got going, one of those 14 wasn't functioning properly. The result of all of this, paired with the fact that the desk staff and mechanics were all fairly new and learning on the fly made for a pretty long and sometimes frustrating day. Looking back, we realize that perhaps our tournament might have been just a little more than they were ready for and we salute all involved as everyone did their absolute best to make it an overall success in the end!  Thanks to everyone for their patience!

The actual bowling this week was pretty dang good!  Of the 129 total entries, there were six who cracked the 800 mark for the 'Best 3 of 4' format and the cut-line was right on target at 740.  The Jackpot was threatened right off the start as Dan Watts hit the 'Front 5' in the very first game of the day, then Andy Snow joined him by doing the same a little bit later.  The two earned $250.00 apiece!

Jeff Scott finished 4th overall as he continued his recent hot streak by shooting 834 while Canadian Erik Arkoncel was 5th at 821 and Brad Deimert 6th with a very nice 808!

Speaking of Canadian's, Rene Malicdan made a super run at the end of the day as he strung together scratch games of 278, 268 & 262, nearly taking his first ever title with 850 total, earning himself a 2nd Place check for $871.00!  Great shooting, Rene, especially considering you were stuck on the lane that gave us problems for much of the day!!!  James Black, already with five career wins, was on a mission to get number six!  James shot a 300 game to start his final set, followed that up with 262 & 248 for his 3rd Place 837 worth $461.00.  James also cleaned up in the scratch game & series pots, earning an additional $187.00.

The story of the day belongs to Jamie Nazario, who fired off 263 & 222 games, setting himself up for a 300 game to wrap up his 866 overall series to win his first ever title after over five years on tour!  Jamie earned $1,928.00 and said he wasn't sure what he was going to do with the money. He used his Pink Black Widow Hammer, drilled up by Robert Kelley at Secoma Lanes and said he dedicates the win to his late Mom, Launita. Jamie said "Thank you to my bowling family, Dexter, Chim, Billy, Betsy & Laura and also my wife, Shali for always supporting me and most of all, my Mom who passed away earlier this year from cancer.  Mom showed me to never give up on anything and I know that she was cheering me on the whole time!"  Nice win, Jamie & Big Congrats from all of us!
