Wrap Up

We have a bit of a history lesson for you this week as our latest champ provided us with the source of his inspiration...Not just when he bowls, but in life as well!  Please read on...

But first, let's discuss our 'Best 3 of 4' at Kenmore Lanes where turnout expectations were exceeded with 116 entries on a day where many of us drove north in the cold, wind & rain while several others braved the treacherous mountain passes like the Gonsalez's from Yakima, theBuchholz's & Maria Fox from Ellensburg along with Jerome Moore from Vantage!  In all, 24 bowlers made the Cash List and we added a Cash spot due to a tie for 23rd Place. Included in that tie were Kim Myron & Julie Broadwell and we'll let them guess which one was the added casher!

There have been odd occurences in the past, but Carl Nichols was witness to some history as both of his lane mates had shots at the 'Middle 7'!  First Osmond Green had his shot, then AFTER moving pairs, Carl's good friend, Keith Huntoon had his!  Both shots were caught on video, one succeeded while the other got a real 10-pin strike!  Click on the pics below to see the video!

Keith (L) and Osmond (R) each with a shot at $500.00 for Middle 7!

If you didn't watch the video, Oz was successful, leaving a 5-pin, while Keith threw a great shot, maybe a little tight, nearly leaving a very late falling 4-pin!  Congrats to Osmond who also shot an awesome 810 series, finishing in 4th Place for the day, earning a grand total of $778.00 (including scratch pot series)

Mitch Johns, Sr., has been knocking on the door over the past few weeks as he lit it up on Saturday, getting lined up in the 12:00 squad by firing a 773 which would've been good enough for 7th Place...but wait!  Mitch reentered, shot 827 to finish in 3rd Place, earning $328.00!  This was Mitch's best finish since joining us on Tour last August!

Chris Andreula had a day to remember!  Chris started the day by shooting 799, and much like Mitch, felt compelled to shoot again and truly on any other day, Chris would've won as he was in pursuit of his 3rd title.  On his reentry, Chris put it all together and was SPOT ON!  All Chris did was throw out a 232 (scratch) game on his way to an incredible 844 for what wound up being 2nd Place this week because one bowler was even more in the zone...Congrats to Chris for a great day and the $851.00 check!

Now to our Champ and that history lesson we promised earlier...

Calvin (Cal) Fisher told us that he prefers not to bowl in the 'Best 3 of 4' format tourney's but will "rethink" that strategy after just crushing it on Saturday for his 3rd (+1 Elite) Title!  Cal said that his friend, David Kim was planning to bowl this week so he opted to do so as well.  Good thing, as Mr. Fisher did some of his best bowling ever, opening with a 300 game and closing things out with a 290 for an 869 winning total!  Just like Andreula, Cal threw out a 232 (scratch) game and as it turns out, Cal needed every shot to pull out the victory over Chris!  Fisher threw his Ebonite Gamebreaker II as well as his Phenom Pearl, both drilled by Robert Kelly at Secoma Lanes.  He also wore his Dexter 'Tank' shoes on his way to the $1,879.00 winner's check...add another $260.00 from the scratch pot and Cal was well over $2.K in earnings!

Now for Cal's inspriation...

Aim High ~ Believe in Yourself ~ Use your Brain ~ Never Quit ~ Be Ready to Go ~ Expect to Win!

This inscription on the dog tag Cal wears around his neck, comes from the legendary Tuskegee Airmen 'Red Tails' who were a group of Heroic African American fighter and bomber pilots who are among Cal's heroes from World War II.  Cal, a pilot himself, says "I wear (the dog tag) at tournaments as a source of focus and inspiration!"  If you want to read more about The Tuskegee Airmen, click on the link below:
