Wrap Up

First off, if you haven't made plans to be at Kent Bowl next weekend for the Tour's CR Boger Construction/Miller Lite 3rd Quarter Championship, you might want to do so!  The clouds, moon, stars & whatever else have aligned to make for great potential of HUGE payout(s) with not only$1,000.00 added money but a MONSTER Progressive Pot of $2,875.00!  With Two of the Top Three this week invested for just $10.00 of a possible $40.00, the Progressive Pot increased well over $1,000.00 and the 9-Tap Jackpot jumped over $400.00 to $5,591.00.  Remember, Kent Bowl is the site of The Tour's Largest Jackpot hit EVER of $7,730.00 thanks to Earl Kleist and is also where Jerry HendricksonJudy BuchananL.C. CofieldPen Hagen, just to name a few, hit it or came close for BIG money!

The 'Friendly Confines' of Pacific Lanes hosted the Tour this week as four evenly balanced squads made for an excellent turnout and 137 Entries.  With 27 Bowlers making for another very diverse Cash List & handicaps ranging from -2 to 57 pins, overall scoring was slightly low with a 'Cut-Line' of 907 and just two scores over 1000.  With no real threats to the 9-Tap Jackpot this week, it was none other than Bob Rouse who stepped up and earned a nice $100.00 consolation by hitting the front 4-taps.  Congratulations, Bob!

Early on Bob Matlock set the pace by returning to form and posting a 998 series which was his best in over a year.  The strong showing by Bob brought him close to his 3rd Title and his $382.00 check inches his Career Earnings closer to the '$10,000.00 Club'. Nice shooting, Mister Matlock!

Until the Final Squad of the day, Isaac Joseph turned in the only 1000 score by posting a 1017 in the 2nd Squad.  There was no drama or pacing the floor for Isaac though as he (strategically?) disappeared quickly after bowling.  Tour Staff wondered where he went and as the Final Squad commenced, thought that we'd have a winner but no pictures or check presentation.  In the end, Mr. Joseph finished in 2nd Place and earned a nice $848.00.  For Isaac, this was his 2nd best showing and was a run at his 2nd Tour Title.  Well Done, Sir!

Through 13 total entries since joining the Tour in 2014, Derek Sutta hasreally struggled as his 4 Bonus pins would show.  Having said that, it was no surprise to see him not put any money into the Progressive Pot as he persisted and said that he was bowling Saturday "Just to have fun".  Derek first entered in the 4:30 Squad and seemed to get himself lined up for the 6:30 Squad as he re-entered and opened up with a mere 211 game.  All he did after that was improve each game, finishing with a Personal Best 280 (309) game and ran away from the pack by a 58-pin margin with obviously his Personal Best (by 134 pins) 1075!

Sutta's performance shows that when you get 'Hot' or 'In the Zone', handicap often isn't the secret as even without the 4 Bonus pins he would've won by 42 pins this week.  Derek said that he'd be back next week for a piece of that HUGE Progressive Pot and some of the $870.00 that he left on the table.  After the win, Derek said "I've never even gotten close to cashing." and that "I'm headed straight to the Emerald Queen Craps table with my $1,000.00 check."  Derek also said that he hadn't planned to bowl but because the power went out at home, "I figured let's bowl! and left my wife, Katy on the couch at home"  Sutta used his Track 'MX05' ball and when asked if he had any hobbies or interests besides bowling said "Don't be ridiculous, I only have time to bowl."  Outstanding work, Derek!
