Skyway Park Bowl - Renton, WA
April 26th, 2014

Total Paid Out: $7,792.00

2013

Wrap Up
The 9-Tap Tour returnedto Skyway Park Bowl this week and as usual, Skyway provided plenty of excitement!  With four evenly balanced Squads and 123 Entries Saturday,  a New Champion was crowned, the 'Middle 7' was hit for the first time this year and an additional spot was added to the cash list.  In the 3rd Squad, John Sisaveth was not having the best of daysuntil the end of the 3rd game when he entered the 10th frame needing two 9-Taps for 7 in a row.  With a small crowd gathering behind but him and without any apparent nervousness, John calmly threw #6 and #7 then turned around and threw his hands up into the air (see video below).   John actually needed to be reminded that he still had to throw one more ball to finish his game.  For hitting the 'Middle 7' 9-Taps, John took home $500.00.  As far as the Tournament was concerned, there was plenty of good, competitive bowling going on.  Ultimately, with a 3-Way tie at the bottom of the Cash List, one extra spot was added to make it 26 bowlers taking home checks this week.  The Cut-Line wound up at 886 which is really close to average.  Four bowlers went over the 1000 mark this week, Gary Woldt turned in one of his best performances ever with a nice 1015 giving him 4th Place for the day.  Chuck Gonsalez, who shot a super 1021 for 3rd Place and $460.00, has now cashed three times this year with a 2nd Place and now TWO 3rd Place finishes!  Keep it going, Chuck!  New Tour Member, Juanito Martinez, who joined just a few weeks ago at Roxbury Bowl, turned in his best performance so far with a superb 1028, earning him 2nd Place and $891.00.  Congrats to you, Juanito!  The Progressive Pot for next week is at $1,910.00 as the 9-Tap Jackpot is $4,751.00.

If you've read many of these Newsletter's, you'll probably agree that the following scenario is extremely common...A bowler turns in a Great early squad performance that puts them at the top of the Leaderboard then they stick around and wait Squad after Squad, pacing up and down the lanes to see who is threatening them, pacing some more, breaking out the calculator to see if their scores are holding up, asking the Tournament Staff if they know of anyone who is close to their score, stressing more and more...Well, this wasn't the case Saturday as Brenda Robinson shot her career best series of 1052 in the 1st Squad then quietly, with her husband, Tourmember Rob Robinson just went home knowing that she was on top of the Leaderboard but didn't really feel 100% confident that her score would hold up all day.  As the 2nd Squad finished, then the 3rd, then the 4th, there were several bowlers that had legitimate chances at overtaking Brenda but all had that ONE game that took them out of it.  When we called Brenda to tell her that she had won and we needed her back at Skyway to take pictures and give her the Champions Check of $1,977.00, she was at home and was surprised to say the least!  This is the First Title for Brenda, she's been a Tour Member since 2012 and had 4 Top 10 finishes in 2013 with one 2nd Place.  Brenda is the 6th Straight Rookie Champion at Skyway, it was also the 3rd Lady Champ in the last 4 weeks and 4th in the last 7 weeks!  Way to go Ladies!!!  Brenda, who has been bowling for 30+ years, used her Storm "Freeze" ball that she had drilled at Paradise Bowl and said that she was "Lucky" today and felt that it was "awesome bowling with Oz" (Osmond Green).  Brenda wanted to thank her husband, Rob and her daughter, Connie for their support.  With her winnings, Brenda said that she had no immediate plans but does have family coming to town soon so is probably saving it for then.  Congratulations Brenda!!!
