A nice turnout at Paradise, was rewarded with a perfect range of scores on the Cash List.  A normal winning score for the 'Best 3 of 4' format would be in the 830 - 850 range.  This week it was 843, along with a nice Cut-Line at 735.  The Winning score was shot in the 2nd squad and at least a dozen bowlers had a shot to reach it going into their final games, but all fell well short.  The 9-Tap Jackpot got off easy this week, with Mike Ducay & Shawn Evans sharing the $100.00 for their 4 Taps.  That left the Jackpot to make a healthy leap to $5,182.00 for next week and the Progressive Pot made an even bigger leap, increasing by 40% to $2,679.00.  Next week, those two BIG Pots will be joined by the Special Mom's Day Pot, which will be sponsored by Baskin Robbins, making it the BIGGEST Mom's High Game Pot we've ever had, likely totaling $400-$500 (detailsWednesday).

 

Another 1st Time Champion, Gary Van Ness saw his tenacity finally pay off, when he started out in that famous 'Zone' and stayed there through all four games.  Gary's had plenty of Cashes, slightly exceeding the normal '1in 5 Cash Ratio', but with a shortage of Top 4 finishes.  All of that past history doesn't matter, when you get into'The Zone'!  He was locked-in from start to finish, shooting a Personal Best series (similar last weeks Winner Divina Novelo), with 4 solid games, but zero HUGE games.  The 'Best 3 of 4' format was NOT his secret, since he would have Blown Away the field by an even larger margin with his fantastic 4-game total of 1087 (Best 3 games 843).  Ironically, Gary first joined the Tour in 2010 back at the old Hooters Bowl in Renton.  In 2011, Hooters Bowl closed down and those new lanes were later re-installed at, guess where... Paradise Bowl.  Asked about his tenacity, Gary said that he bowls because he, "Enjoys all the Bowlers and has fun at the Tournaments".  He used his Storm Frantic, drilled at the Kent Bowl Pro Shop for his PB series.  The Win is also an early Birthday present, since the still working surveyor will turn 78 years young in a few weeks.  Gary only had $10 in the Progressive Pot, causing quite a jump in that Pot's total.  But, he was none-the-less quite excited about what he said was the "Great timing", of the $1,478.00 Winner's check, which would come in handy to help pay some bills.  CONGRATS Gary on Win #1.

 

In 2nd Place, Shawn Evans was also excited to have his second Top 3 Finish this year and fourth Top 5 since joining the Tour late last year.  His strong 804 series was the only other 800 shot this week, good enough for a sweet $882.00 payday.  Sneaking into 3rd Place by just 2 pins, 2013's Bowler of the Year James Black collected a profitable $476.00 for his nice 795.  That was in addition to another $260.00 James earned from the Scratch Pot, for his sweet 962 series & a 287 game. always happy to hear from you!
