Osmond attempting his seventh 9-Tap in a row! |
Saturday's return to Hiline Lanes was full of BIG games but nobody could really put four complete games together resulting in our answering a common question for most of the day: "Is it the 'Best 3 out of 4' today?" Obviously, the answer was "No, sorry, not today". Incredibly, this is the first time in over 70 Tournaments dating back to December of 2012 atSkyway Park Bowl where in a full 4-Game format someone didn't break the 1,000 mark. Unusually, there were dozens of single games of 270 or higher, including 298's from Stu Gallagher and Ajay Jarata and a 297 from Chris Andreula. With 108 Entries for the day, 22 Bowlers are on the Cash List as the cut line was perfect at 920.
In the Final Squad, it was none other than "The Oz" Osmond Green who somewhat quietly hit the Front six 9-Taps, and had a shot at the 9-Tap Jackpot when he stepped up in the 7th frame and threw a 'REAL' strike (see Oz's attempt in the link provided below). Congrats go out to Osmond for taking home a nice consolation of $500.00!!! Chuck Hufford wound up in 2nd Place this week shooting a super 988, narrowly missing his 3rd career title. With $0 in the Progressive Pot, Chuck's winnings were limited to $500.00. Finishing in 3rd Place for a nice $508.00 pay day, ONE pin shy of 2nd with a 987 was Brad Dubeck. This was Brad's 4th Top 6 finish and his best result since joining the Tour back in 2012. Good shooting, Chuck & Brad!!! Also very much worth a mention is that one of our husband & wife duo's, Richard & Nicky Allison finished in 4th & 7th Place, respectively as both had that one game which knocked them out of title contention. The 9-Tap Jackpot for next week at Paradise Village Bowlwill be $2,282.00 while Progressive Pot total continues to stay BIG at $2,579.00.
After joining The Tour in 2011 and trying to win for three years, this week's winner, Walt Dalrymple has now taken home his 2nd Title since Maywhen he shared the title atRoxbury Lanes with Judy Robbins. While warming up, Walt's knee was bothering him and he seriously considered withrawing. Turns out to be a good thing that he pressed on because after placing a brace on the knee and taking some pain medication, he proceeded to shoot the day's best score of995, taking home the title and $2,325.00. With the win, Walt boosts his career earnings to $7,247.00 and a quick sidenote, he won this Tournament despite having lost 5 pins (20 total) of handicap since his last title. Walt used his Hammer 'Cold Blood' ball as he did in his previous win and credits his lane mates, Stu Gallagher (6th Place) and Judy Buchanan(10th Place) for also bowling well while helping him with the pace and added that the three of them had earlier joked that they would all finish 1, 2 & 3. Not a bad prediction! With his winnings, Walt says that it will be used to pay off a recent Disney vacation and that he and his wife are leaving for Oregon today. Finally, Walt wanted to thank his cousin, Skip for NOT being there this week as both of his wins have now come when Skip wasn't around. Congratulations, Mr. Dalrymple! |
