Tournament Wrap Up

Some very nice scoring ruled the day in ALL 3 squads.  A higher than normal Cut-Line of 940 was a little deceiving, since only 2 spots further down the list was a more normal 919.  It was the 6 very strong scores at the Top of the Cash List that were so impressive, with every one of those 6 having an opportunity to capture the Title this week.  One was derailed by just ONE slightly errant shot.  The 9-Tap Jackpot also seemed to be under assault all day, when we had two strings of 5 in-the-middle in the 1st Squad. Then in the 2nd Squad, Denise Thrush had 6 in-the-middle and on her shot for #7, worth $1,000.00, she couldn't watch, turning her back until the moans from the crowd told her she got an 8-count.  Then in the 3rd Squad, Bob Rouse also had the middle-6 and threw ONE BALL for the $1,000.00Consolation.  The split he got in the 10th frame ended his effort for both the Consolation and the 300 game he was working on.  After ALL THAT DRAMA, the Consolation ended up going to FIVE bowlers who had a mere 3-Taps at the beginning of their games, each pocketing $75.00 for the effort.  THANKS to Cal FisherTerrence Alford and Duke Ellington for being Hosts at the Visitors Center Saturday!

Ken McAllister finally had the breaks fall his way, to capture his first Championship.  In the nearly two years since Ken joined the Tour, he's had TEN Top 10 finishes, including a 2nd Place finish last month, when he was leading going into the last squad.  Aftersome nice games in his first entry, Ken put it all together in a 2nd squad re-entry, with 4 solid games and a 1059 total, this time finishing with his best game, a 278.  Saying that he had a "Good Look" in both squads and the conditions didn't change much for him, he certainly took advantage of the opportunity.  Ken's hefty $2,392.00 in winnings Saturday, pushes his Career earnings total to $6,192.00.  Pretty nice total earnings in less than 2 years and one win!  Ken gives much of the credit for his win to Fred Mattson (Narrows Plaza Pro Shop) who drills his equipment and has helped him with his game, both physically and mentally.  So, Ken asked us to thank Fred and Lee Greenfield (Narrows Mgr) for their support and encouragement and good friend Les Christie who was there to cheer him on, as well as his wife Annawho occaisionally bowls our Tournaments too.  Ken says he looks forward to each Tournament and win or lose, enjoys the many friendships he's made and the competition each week.  CONGRATS Ken on Win #1.

LeRoy Cofield came VERY close to his 1st Win, until a last game 10th frame split left him just THREE PINS short of the Title (1056).  His 2nd Place finish is his best to date, surpassing a 3rd place finish in January.  LeRoy's personal best series, goes together with his biggest payday of $1,057.00.  In 3rd Place, one of the Tours most consistent bowlers, Cal Fisher had his TENTH Top 5 finish, shooting a solid 1043 to earn $538.00Mike Ducay wasn't far behind with his nice 1031 and Derek Handy (1025) and Terry Morton (1024) shot the other BIG scores at Sounder.
