Tournament Wrap Up

Boger Constr. / Miller-Lite Open

3/31/12 & 4/1/12 at Skyway Park Bowl

35 bowlers cashedScores ranged from 892 to 1021.  The 9-Tap Jackpot was hit for $1000.00.  The winner was a First Time Champion.  Our High Qualifier and our 9-Tap Jackpot winner both had a chance to win the tournament, as well.  We paid out more than $12,000.00.  And a partridge in a pear tree.  What more can you ask…what a great weekend!!

Congratulation to James Strand, who is a First TimeChampion.  James earned $2,129.00 for his efforts, but first he had to roll games of 233, 209, 227, 256 and finally a 269 to capture his first title.  Along the way, he had to survive a 7-10 split that almost derailed his efforts and then a solid 3-6 pocket hit for a strike.  James’ previous best finish was 2nd place, at another 2 day event held at Bowlero Lanes, last August.  James’ ball of choice was his Hammer “Black Widow Venom”, drilled byCorey Gardner.  James would like to thank all those that stayed to watch him win his first title and to root him on. He would especially like to thank his wife (Tara) and daughter (Alyssa) for their cheers and support.  Congratulations James!!!

Our 2nd place winner was Patrick Robbins.  Patrick looked like he was going to take it all after bowling some real nice games of275, 269, 271, 284, to make it to the final two.  Unfortunately, he just missed capturing his 2nd career title.  However, for his efforts, he will be taking home a nice check in the amount of$971.00.  Nicely bowling Patrick!!

Finishing in our 3rd-4th positions were Ajay Jarata and Randy Hirst.  Each will be taking home a check for $393.00 in a nice days effort.  Both bowled very well thru the finals until they ran into two buzz saws (James and Patrick).  Still, well done!

Our High Qualifier for the tournament was Brian Selck.  Brianrolled a real nice 1021, earning him the 900 Global “Train” bowling ball.  However, his high qualifying score was very much in jeopardy whenPebbles de Guzman started coming on strong.  Unfortunately, Pebbles rolled a 6 count in the 10th frame of the last game to finish with a nice 1020, just missing the lead by 1 pin. Ouch!!  Tapping the 9-Tap Jackpot was “I Dream of Jeanie” Gennie Smith. She managed to hit (7) 9-Taps in the middle to collect a real nice$1000.00 consolation prize.  The best part of this was Gennie didn’t even know that she was in position to win the $1000.00. After explaining it to her, all I know was there was a lot of smiling and a lot of hopping.  Nicely done to both Brian and Gennie!
