HAPPY MOM'S DAY!!!  Quite a Mom's Day Tournament at Secoma Saturday!  We had much higher scores than in our previous visits, with zero changes made to the oil pattern.  The result was the highest Top 3 scores so far this year, although having SEVEN scores that topped 1000 were just a little more than the 3 to 5 we often see.  The BIGGEST score of the day waswhen Rody Sumandig hit the 9-Tap Jackpot for $750.00, with his 7-Taps in the middle of his game (click here to see the Video) .  That makes two straight Tournaments that the Jackpot has been tapped for $750.00, and there were a number of bowlers who had some nice strings going this week.  The Mom's Day Pot was shared by 3 Moms, topped by a newcomer Kanna Matthews, who shot a scratch 300 game (319 w/hdcp) in her 3rd ever game on the Tour.  Kanna earned $125.00 for her perfecto, Pearl Sedeno got $65 for her impressive 290 (w/hdcp) and Crystal Anderson held on for $35 with a nice 284.  Our first 6:30 squad of the year proved to be popular with 44 bowlers, making it the largest squad of the day.  The large crowd also gave a boost to the Progressive Pot, pushing it to a healthy $2,426.00 for next weeks 'Best 3 of 4' format at Kent Bowl.

 

The Tour's newest First Time Champion, Patrick Dennis, breaks out of his SLUMP in a BIG way!  It was only his 10th try with the Tour, but Patrick had truly struggled during his first nine tries, not making the Cash List in any.  After he finished, he told me that hisperformance, "Came as a huge shock" to himself, since his last night of league had been as much of a struggle as his previous Tour efforts.  We seem to often repeat the same slogan... 'YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'RE GONNA GET HOT', but it's so often the case.  Patrick mentioned that he's been practicing lately, trying to work his way out of the doldrums, hoping to at least hit the Cash List this week.  But, once he got HOT this week, everything seemed to go his way.  He confessed to getting some amazing breaks, none bigger than when he needed one more mark to wrap up the win.  On that shot, the 7 count turned into a real strike after a mysterious, or ghostly, 'Domino Effect'.  The result was the High 4-Game Series this year, an AMAZING 1134, which earned him $2,215.00, that he said he'd use to pay bills.  The 'Secret Weapon' he used, was a Columbia 300 'Freeze', drilled by Jason Hoff at Tech City Bowl.  Patrick asked us to THANK his friends Derek Handy & Kareem Browne for their support Saturday.  Great Job Patrick and CONGRATS on Win #1.

 

In 2nd Place, Tour 'Hall of Famer' Tong Nguyen thought he had another 'Notch-in-his-Belt', after shooting a huge 1082, until Patrick got even hotter.  A nice 2nd Place check for $996.00should help to soothe his damaged psyche... but 'Legends' heal quickly!  In 3rd Place, a VERY HOT Brian Selck continued his recent streak with a strong 1055 and a $541.00 payday.
