What a PHENOMENAL Bowlers Appreciation Day at Narrows Plaza!!!  Records were HAMMERED!!  The 253 entriesoverwhelmed the old record of 220 set last year (also Narrows) in a Two-Day Tournament and produced the largest Cash List ever with 51 Members sharing the Prize Money and a total $13,364.00Paid-Out.  The record 75 entries in the 2nd squad was well handled by Lynn & Margie at the Check-In table, but did leave us a little behind schedule.  Our Members patience was greatly appreciated before the 3rd squad (73 entries), when a simple mistake was made during the re-oil, which pushed us even further behind.  We always expect an ATTACK on the 9-Tap Jackpotwhen we're at Narrows, and we weren't disappointed this week.  THREE bowlers came-up One Tap short, when each earned the chance to throw ONE BALL for $1,000.00... One run was the made by the eventual Champion Maribel Abella, one was made by Mike Peters bowling in his very 1st game on the Tour, the 3rd stringing 6 middle Taps was Rick Graham (see video below), who also 2 games earlier came ONE PIN short of the Front SEVEN, when an 8 count in the 6th frame derailed the effort.  That Front 5 Taps still earned him $375.00 from the Jackpot.  TWENTY FIVE bowlers had excellent series, all topping 950, but only one bowler put together a HUGE set of 4 games.  The Gigantic turnout boosted both Pots, but the Progressive Potgrew to it's highest of the year by about $700, for the FINAL regular Tournament of the year.

The Champion of the Biggest Tournament in Tour History is Maribel Abella, who earned her 2nd Title this year.  She joined the Tour in 2008, but 2012 has really been her 'break-out' year, with FIVE Top 10 finishes + well over $1,000.00 in earnings from the Jackpot.  Her shot Saturday at 7-Taps in the middle of her final game, missed this time, but she made that same shot when she had the chance in June, also at Narrows.  Her quote after missing #7 was perfect, when she said, "I LOVE NARROWS"!  Her beautiful 1090 series was the only Super-Sized series of a day that was filled with nice scores, giving her a 64 pin margin of Victory.  Maribel and husband Rollie usually bowl together, as they did this week.  They had just gotten off the plane Saturday, after returning from a trip to Las Vegas.  Maribel said that the difference this week, was that she got some rest while in Vegas, while Rollie bowled and gambled, but didn't get much sleep.  He did win some of the Casino's money, but Rollie admitted that Maribel's $2,328.00 win was worth more.  She used her Storm 'Frantic' drilled by Norm at Kent Bowl, for her impressive Win.  When not working at Veteran's Hospital, her favorite activities are bowling and shopping.  CONGRATS Maribel on Win #2!

 

Also gunning for his 2nd Career Title was Matt Lawrence, who put together his second best series, topped only by his winning score in 2007.  This is Matt's best finish since returning to the Tour earlier this year from a two year absence.  His 1026 was worth an Impressive $1,051.00 payday for 2nd.  In 3rd, Karol Knight continued her recent Hot Streak, with her third Top 10 finish in her last five Tournaments.  Karol earned a healthy$573.00 for her Career Best series of 1014.  John Young made the trip down from Blaine, taking the early lead, then helplessly watching as three bowlers topped his score, pushing him to 4th.
