Tournament Wrap Up

Deuces were definitely WILD on Saturday at the Year-End Championship!  When TWO 69 year olds squared off in the Championship match... the 2ndstraight week that we crowned a Lady as Champion... the 2nd year-in-a-row that a Woman captured the Year-End Championship, which was ALSO her 2ndwin of the year.  The Finals provided some tough matches, like Duke Lee's 225-219 victory over #1 Seed Nelson Sand, or Sue Packman beating Mholee Divina 257-249, with both matches turning on ONE shot in the 10th frame.  The day started a little behind schedule, thanks to the crunch of checking-in ALL 86 bowlers in one squad and some duplicated lane assignments that put us behind.  The Awards presentations included a BOUNTY ($1,600.00 worth) of Balls, Bags & Shoes to the B.O.Y. Top 10, thanks to HAMMER & DEXTER.  In some close election results, Tour Members voted Earl Kleist into the Tour Hall of Fame ($28,585.00 Career Earnings - 6 Titles).  That HONOR came in the same year that Earl also earned the 2011 Bowler of the Yearpennant.  Eric Pham also collected his 300 RING, which is every bowlers most Treasured item! Rookie of the Year went to Carl Nichols, with 2 titles and nearly $8,000.00 in earnings for the Blaine, WA. resident.  #1 Woman of 2011 went to another Tour rookie Mai-Lee Bowyer, as the highest finishing lady on the B.O.Y. standings.

SUE PACKMAN DOES IT AGAIN!  After finally breaking her long 5 year drought last July with a BIG Win, Sue comes back and becomes only the 3rd Member during the 2011 season, to win 2 Titles.  Our2011 Y/E Champion wasn't even sure she was going to bowl Saturday, with partner Paul unable to attend.  GREAT choice Sue!  "Ms. Pacman" certainly gobbled-up all the competition in theBracket Finals again.  Her previous win this year was in a 2-Day Tournament where she also successfully 'maneuvered through the maze' in the Finals.  Sue's had 2 foot surgeries this year (what? Ms Pacman doesn't have feet!!), which forced her out of bowling for extended periods.  She actually won her two titles shortly after rehabbing from those two surgeries.  Sue dedicated this win to partner Paul Padilla, who is also her bowling coach and ball driller.  Paul drilled Sue's Brunswick Twisted Fury at the Skyway Pro Shop and advised her to, "Close her eyes and visualize her shots".  The $2,151.00 winners share will come in very handy, since they're in the process of remodeling their condo.  Sue asked us to thank the long list of HiLine and Skyway bowlers who stayed and cheered her on through the Finals.  GREAT JOB Sue!

Mac Brown came close to capturing his 2nd career Title, with three big games in the first 3 Rounds of the Finals.  Some tough breaks in the Final Match derailed that run, but the $989.00 for 2nd Place was still a great early Holiday present.  Tied for 3rd Place,Rob Richards & Duke Lee both had some nice Finals games, each earning $325.00.  Rob had the Highest Game in the Finals with a 279 scratch in the 2nd Round, before losing to Mac by just THREE pins, in the 3rd Round.  Duke had an excellent run in just his 2nd Tournament back after 8 months away from the Tour.  Duke had won his first Tour Title last January.  CONGRATULATIONS also to Raymond Sedeno, who along with wife Pearl, bowled with us for many years before moving to Hawaii.  Raymond FINALLY won his 1st Tour Title Saturday at Schoefield Barracks Bowl on Oahu and Pearl made the Cash List as well.
