Records continue to get SMASHED on a weekly basis!  The Major Records include: 90 entries in the 2:30 squad, 205 Entries in a One-Day Tournament, 4th straight $10,000.00+ Paid-Out (ties total # for all of 2010) and a 'modern' record $3,158.00 for 1st Place.  Thanks to a tie for the last spot on the Cash List, we paid 42 places for the second straight week.  It's GREAT to see so many Members sharing in the bounty.  As we expected, the scores were high all-day, but surprisingly the 'Cut-Score' got lower each squad.  We also predicted that the 9-Tap Jackpot could be in jeopardy this weekend and it nearly did get hit. Dorrie Quirante came SO CLOSE, you had to see it to believe it.  When she threw for her 7th Tap, a large crowd had gathered to watch and they let out a ROAR as Dorrie's shot looked like it had a chance.  It went Brooklyn, momentarily leaving a 5-9, but some nice pin action took out the 5-pin and for a split second the 9-pin stood alone.  Seemingly in slow motion, it went over backwards, causing a HUGE moan from the crowd.  You can't come any closer than that, and Dorrie took home $750.00 as a nice Consolation.  Thanks to the large turnout, the Jackpot still grew to $9,345.00 for next week at Roxbury.  Our THANKS to all who participated this week and for your patience with the delays resulting from the enormous turnout.

What a GREAT story with our Narrows Champion Christina Miller!  Bowling on her 22nd Wedding Anniversary, she shot an excellent 1036 putting her in strong position for a nice Cash.  Seeing several higher scores, including Paul Bitzer's HUGE 1095, several other bowlers decided not to try to catch him.  Christina had already changed her shoes, but was struggling with whether to bowl again or not.  She decided that the score was NOT insurmountable, so she gave it one more try.  ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING, an old boss of mine used to say.  Christina's persistence and refusal to believe she couldn't do it, paid-off with a mammoth $3,158.00 payday!  Of course Christina has a huge advantage... She knows that she can overcome anything, after coming back from a debilitating leg injury that caused her to have to re-learn to bowl on her 'wrong-leg'.  Christina got SO HOT she couldn't miss.  Right away she shot a 300 in her first game and started two games with SIX real strikes in-a-row, leading to a MASSIVE 1109 SCRATCH score.  She credits the group she bowled with for helping to keep her loose.  The Record $3,158.00 check, for her 3rd Title, pushes her Career Earnings past the $10,000.00 plateau to an impressive $12,566.00.  A new ball bag and a major shopping spree with son Justin are in her plans, and maybe even a special Anniversary gift for her hubby Mike.  An Elite PBA Shark was her ball this week, drilled by Nick Blair at Hi-Joy Proshop in Port Orchard.  CONGRATULATIONS Christina on win #3!

That seemingly unbeatable 1095 by Paul, ended up getting topped by THREE bowlers, pushing Paul all the way back to 4th place.  Sun Kim, shooting on the pair next to Christina, got equally HOT with a Sizzling 1125, which topped her 'Personal Best' by a HUGE 148 pins.  The $1,373.00 for 2nd Place was also an All-Time Record payout.  Terrence Alford beat his 'PB' by 40 pins shooting a very nice 1112 (1092 scr), which earned him an extra $140 from the Scratch Pot, to go with a hefty $742.00 for 3rd.
