The last two squads alone, totaled an amazing 100 entries on Saturday. A three-way tie for the last (25th) spot, added an extra 2 bowlers to the Cash-List, so we actually paid a total of 27 this week. We had a bit of a scare before we even started, when the 'Oil Machine' fell over with a CRASH. They did a nice job getting it up and running for us, with no apparent side effects. The scores were right on target all day, with an ideal final Cut-Score at 734. Paul Marcello had a Day to Remember, with the unveiling of his 2009 Bowler of the Year Pennant, then he was presented his ring for his first Sanctioned 300 GAME. He followed that up by shooting a FINE 813 series, but Paul was sure that score wouldn't be enough to win, so he re-entered and tried to improve it. He proceeded to shoot 813 AGAIN, unbelievably he shot well enough to take 2nd Place... TWICE! (but you can only cash once) The Progressive Pot stayed at a Healthy $2,185.00 for next week at Ft Lewis. While the 9-Tap Jackpot grew to $2,592.00, despite FIVE Members who tied with a mere 3 No-Taps, taking $125 in Consolation Bonus from the Pot.
Our Tower Champ is Kenny Tameno, returns to the Winner's Circle after a 2 year absence. He first joined in 2002, shortly after the Tour began. This makes 3 Career Titles for Kenny and almost exactly duplicates his last Title in 2008, which was also a "Best 3 of 4" at Tower Lanes. I think he likes the Format and the House! Kenny also came VERY close to matching Paul's Natural 300, getting the 1st 11 real strikes, ending up with a Natural 299. That 12th shot would have earned him a USBC Ring, but the 299 still represents his personal All-Time Best game! His win was worth a HEFTY $2,231.00, that Kenny said he'd pay some bills with, along with getting some new bowling equipment. Kenny also took home an extra $165 from the Scratch Pot, not to mention cashing in on some Brackets and hdcp High Game Pots. Pretty NICE haul!! For this Title, Kenny used a Columbia "Loud Noise", drilled by Pat Johns at HiLine. Due to being moved to the 2nd shift at Boeing, Kenny hasn't been able to bowl in his regular Leagues this year, making this win even more impressive. He asked us to pass his THANKS to his Friends and his Parents for their support. CONGRATS Kenny on win #3!
Of course 2nd went to Paul with his ddoouubbllee 813's, worth a SWEET $992.00. 3rd Place went to Rick Weiss Jr for his best finish, and $413.00. The only other 800 shot Saturday was newcomer Jesse Marlatt with an 801, good for 4th Place and $255.00.
NEXT WEEK: Is a regular format Singles Tournament, but we will kick-in $100 to start a "Couples" Side-Pot for Valentines Day. The Ladies will even be allowed to bowl with an extra Doubles partner, if they'd like, since there's so many more guys on the sidelines.
If you haven't been to the newly remodeled BowlArena Lanes on Ft Lewis, you'll be impressed. If you don't yet have a 'gate pass', the Visitors Center was very quick and easy the last time we went to the Fort. Or, you can still pick-up a pass at the Narrows Plaza Pro Shop during regular store hours.
