We are well on our way to having the biggest month in Tour history! An UNBELIEVABLE, record smashing, turnout of 178 entries, at Secoma Lanes Saturday, added to 156 & 139 entries the previous weeks. That also created the 1st One-Day Tournament to top $10,000.00 paid-out. This also pushed the Progressive Pot to an Extra Large $2,334.00 for Ft. Lewis next week. Secoma's scoring was right on target, with 4 bowlers topping 1000 and our normal wide range of averages represented on the Cash List. Before the Skyway Tournament, we expanded the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation to pay ties the full value. 4 Members capitalized on that change last week taking a total of $400 from the Pot. This week, 4 more tied, this time at FIVE No-Taps, to take $250 each from the Pot. But, Cecil Abay-Abay did it twice, for a hefty $500 bonus, while Earl Kleist & Tong Nguyen each took home $250. In just two weeks, we've already paid $1,400.00 out of the Jackpot.
DAVID KIM captured his 1st Tour Championship, with a dominating performance. His personal best score of 1077, topped his previous high by 30 pins and outdistanced the rest of the field Saturday by 46 pins, leading to a nice $2,030.00 payoff. David's been a regular on the Tour since joining at the beginning of 2009 and has shot well many times with EIGHT Top 10 finishes, including a 3rd place last month. He's been searching for that famous "Zone", where he could get into a groove and put 4 really good games together. After finishing with a 266 in his first entry, he said that he, "Had a feeling that the 'Stars were Aligned' and was confident that the shot was ideal for him". David and wife Lynn are very popular figures on the Tour, appreciated for their always friendly demeanor. Along with sons Brian and Greg, they have been very active in the bowling community for many years. David also serves on the 9-Tap Tour Liaison Committee, as a representative of the Membership. That committee reviews Tour Rules & Policies each year, to insure that the Members have a voice in decisions relating to our Tournaments. David bowls leagues at both HiLine (Burien) and Majestic (Lynnwood) Lanes. His ball of choice was his Brunswick C4.5, drilled in Las Vegas by K&K Bowling Service. He asked us to thank ALL the 9-Tap Members for their support and encouragement and added, "Winning is Fun, but Friendships are Everlasting"! CONGRATS David on Winning #1!!
In 2nd Place, was veteran, Life Member Gary Woldt (member #37), with his best finish since he won in 2004. He's had several 3rd place finishes in that time and his sweet $922.00 check almost matches what he got for 1st six years ago. In 3rd Place, was a 'Hot' Secoma bowler, Jerry Bleckov, coming on the heels of his 5th place finish at the PBA Regional Pro/Am at Secoma. Jerry also shot his personal best series and gets $443.00 for his fine effort. Sad to say, the 'Sun has Set', on Steve Shine's phenomenal streak of 10 straight cashes. |
