9-Tap Tour Tournament Results
Roxbury Lanes - Seattle, Wa September 25, 2010
Total Paid Out: $6,427.00

A nice day outside, and the last weekend of the Fair, couldn't stop a great day at Roxbury. Overall, the extra length we added to the oil pattern did a good job of bumping the scores up, when compared to our last visit. But only ONE Member managed to top 1000 this week. We came to the conclusion that the same thing that causes a higher ratio of 9-Taps at Roxbury, also causes a higher ratio of Splits. I said during the 1st squad, "Whoever managed to avoid the splits, would win the Tournament". The winner did just that... Read on to see how he did it. The 'assault' on the 9-Tap Jackpot never materialized this week. Bowlers must have been trying too hard! Every week since we announced that we would pay ties Full Value, there have been multiple Members taking advantage of the offer. This week, Tong Nguyen was the lone Member with 4 No Taps (one other 4 not in the Pot), so he takes home $100 from the Consolation Bonus. The 9-Tap Jackpot now moves to within $250 of being the LARGEST in Tour History, currently standing at $6,764.00, for next week at Bowlero. The Progressive Pot also got a BIG boost to a hefty $2,145.00.

Our Roxbury Champion, Jon Schneider, earned his 5th Career Title and 1st singles win this year. Jon has had a small dry-spell over the last 17 months. Although 17 months without winning a singles title may not sound like a dry-spell, considering that he competes every single week, that is quite a few entries between Titles. Jon admitted that his secret for avoiding the splits Saturday was totally luck. In his first two games, on 15 & 16, he was all over the place. On lane 15, not once in two games did he keep his ball on the right side of the headpin, with every strike (or 9) being either a Brooklyn or right through the nose. But, in his last two games, he did get in a very nice groove. Those two games also propelled him to winning an extra $250 from the Scratch Pot. However, his $10 in the Progressive Pot, limited him to a still solid $1,487.00 payday. He'll use his prize money for a long overdue trip to Toronto, over the Holidays, to visit family. Jon has worked hard to improve his bowling and credits Paul Padilla for helping to re-work his game and Ted Umetsu for helping with his focus. Jon used his Morich "Awesome Hook" that was given to him by Paul Marcello and drilled by Pat Johns at HiLine. CONGRATS Jon!

In 2nd Place, Kenny Tameno finished strong, but came up a little short of the top spot. He takes home a sweet $889.00 for his 989 series. Samson Ibale's 981 also gave him a shot at Jon's score, but he settles for 3rd Place and $495.00.
