An excellent weekend in every way! The turnout was great, the competition was upbeat and often very close. A good example would be Jason Hummell, who missed one cut on Saturday by only ONE pin, but came back Sunday to catch the last spot by TWO pins. Or, newcomer Young Lee coming up ONE pin short (222-221) in her Bracket match with the eventual 2nd place finisher. In another unusual twist, we had 11 Tour Veterans (old-timers) with Member numbers ranging from #1 to #273, among the 28 Finalists. By the time we worked our way down to the Final Four, ALL FOUR Finalists were Veterans who had joined the Tour back in 2002. David Kim had quite a weekend, earning the Hammer 'Plague' ball and 9-Tap Jacket as the Top Qualifier, plus $280 from the Scratch Pot, to go with his 9th Place finish. John Bustamente broke that 'Log Jam' in the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation, by throwing 5 No-Taps, for a nice $250 payday.
Hooters Bowl officially has a KING! He was 'Crowned' after winning for the second straight Tournament at Hooters Bowl. Congratulations to his majesty King Danny Nudelman! Danny (Member #149) has been active on the Tour, dating back to 2002. This is his 3rd Career Title and he really had to work for this one. He struggled trying to qualify on Saturday, while his good friend Bob Rouse, qualified for the Finals. Not to be outdone, Danny came back on Sunday determined to defend his Hooters Title. In the 1st game of his re-entry, he had his first career 9-Tap 300 game and was so excited, the Hooters staff took notice and decided to present him with a bowling pin autographed by all the Hooters girls, along with a Hooters t-shirt. After another taste of posing for pictures with the Hooters girls before the Finals, Danny obviously wanted more pictures, which he got with even more girls, after he won $1,919.00. The narrowest margins of victory came in his Semi-Final and Final matches, when he slipped past Char Patton by just 4 pins (190-186) and then pulled out a hard fought Championship Match against Rod Koski by just 7 pins (253-246). When asked whether he was nervous during the Finals, he said, "Not as much as I was at the end of that 300 game". Danny's ball of choice for this win, was his HAMMER "Razyr", drilled by Bob Sanchez at Acme Bowl. When not working at QFC or bowling, Danny enjoys taking vacations on Cruise ships, which is what he plans on doing with his winnings. GREAT JOB King Danny!!
Rod Koski returned to the Tour with a BANG, finishing in 2nd Place. Rod (#273) also joined in 2002, took home $713 in his first Tournament in a long time. He bowled well all weekend, qualifying #2 with his 1013 and only having that one close match, which he pulled out by a mere 1 pin. In a tie for 3rd Place, Char Patton (#1) and Tong Nguyen (#100) each earned a nice $382.00. Both are competing for Top honors in the 2010 Hammer 'Bowler of the Year' competition, so this finish will provide each with some nice points.
Our Thanks to HOOTERS - MILLER-LITE and HAMMER for their involvement with this Tournament!!! |
