A GREAT turnout Saturday at HiLine, produced a nice Cash List that should have been 27 Members, but a 3-way tie for the last spot added two extra places, bringing the list to 29. The scoring was slightly higher than the usually moderate scores at HiLine. Lately, the Top scores have been coming early in the day, and that trend continued Saturday, with the bulk of the biggest scores coming in the first two squads. The strong turnout, coupled with the 2nd place finisher only putting $10 in the Progressive Pot, pushed the already extra large Pot to an even higher total of $2,244.00, for next week at Bowlero. No one took advantage of the new Consolation Bonus increase, but three Members (Michael Nucci-Rollie Abella-Earl Kleist) did manage to string 4 No-Taps taking $50 each. With no large chunks of cash taken out, the 9-Tap Jackpot took another leap, now at a hefty $4,510.00.
Our HiLine Champion, Jeremy Truitt, wins his first Tour Title and, he said, his first championship of any kind. Jeremy first joined the Tour last October, at Roxbury, where he's bowled league for the last 3 years. His bowling has steadily improved over that period, to a 180 average this last season. Now, he's not only challenging himself on the Tour, but also testing himself with a PBA Experience league at West Seattle. Jeremy mentioned that he went through the whole range of emotions during his four games. From being pretty excited after his personal best 274 in the first game, changing to confidence, as he continued to stay hot ("The Zone") through the middle games. But when someone told him he could win the Title, he said he got nervous. He just told himself to "Stay aggressive", which obviously worked. Despite the nerves, he finished strong at the end of the last game, stringing a few strikes. Jeremy ended up trouncing his previous best score of 870, with a HUGE 1099. His ball of choice was a Morich 'Leverage', drilled by John Arnell at Roxbury. When asked what he's going to do with his $2,108.00 in winnings, he said, "First I'm upgrading some bowling equipment". CONGRATULATIONS Jeremy on win #1!!
In 2nd place and riding quite a "Hot Streak" of his own, was Moon Chung. Even with just $10 in the Pro Pot, he still made a healthy $722.00 for his efforts. Moon's 1048 from the 1st squad almost held on, until Jeremy got even hotter. John Bustamente also shot his personal best in the 1st squad, just 6 pins short of Moon, at 1042. The 3rd place money of $532.00 is a pretty nice payday.
