On the nicest day of the year outside, we had an equally great day inside, with a healthy 123 entries for the day. Four Members topped the magic 800 mark Saturday and all four were seeking their 1st Tour Titles. The "Best 3 of 4" format, as usual, gave us some excitingly tight competition. Many were within striking distance of the lead all day, just needing a strong finish. Every squad had bowlers that got off to great starts, with two big games, but just didn't hit the third big game they needed to move to the top of the standings. The one exception, thought he needed four big games to win (see below). TEN Members with handicaps of 9 pins or less, made the 'Cash List', which was balanced by the EIGHT with 25 or more pins who also made it. The 9-Tap Jackpot made another large jump to $4,848.00, for next weeks Doubles Tournament. The Dad's Day Tournament at Narrows Plaza will be the last Tournament before the 2 week summer break.
The Bowlero Champion Ken Seaton, has been a popular Member of the Tour for the last two years. Ken has had a lot of entries over that time span and now finally he has his 1st Title. He's come close several times in the past, with two 2nd place finishes and a 3rd. This week was particularly unique... Ken forgot that he got to throw-out his bad game. After he shot a 176 in the 3rd game, he thought he had no chance, even after a big final game. So, he packed-up and headed home, not waiting to see where he finished. When I called and told him he'd won, he thought I was pulling a practical joke and didn't believe me. When reminded that the 176 didn't count, it all suddenly made sense. His 856 easily outdistanced the rest of the field and made for a sweet $2,122.00 payday. Ken only began bowling shortly before he first joined the Tour. He and friend Willie Ragin originally joined together and usually bowl together, although Willie missed this one at Bowlero. Ken said he owed a lot of credit to the "Bowling Gods" for the many good breaks he got Saturday. And some credit to Norm Giannusa at Bowlero for drilling his Storm Virtual Gravity that he used for the win. He sent his thanks to wife Mary for her support, as well as grandson Jahmari (the one in the picture with hair). Ken works for Pierce Transit and also enjoys drag racing when he's not bowling. CONGRATULATIONS Ken on win #1!!
In 2nd Place, Tony Kryzanowski had the lead going into the last squad. He went through the emotional ups and downs while at least six bowlers had shots at his top score. But, his 813 still held on for 2nd and a hefty $949.00 payoff. In a 3rd Place tie, was David Leger who had held the lead through the first two squads and Terrence Alford who snuck up to tie him at 807. They each took home $382.00 for 3rd and both also had the Top scores in the Scratch Pot, with David getting another $185 and Terrence $125 from that Pot.
