9-Tap Tour Tournament Results
Bowlero Lanes - Lakewood, Wa March 27, 2010
Total Paid Out: $7,376.00

We had a little bit of EVERYTHING on Saturday at Bowlero. All three squads were nicely balanced and all were well attended. The 127 Entries created a healthy sized cash list of 25 Members. The scores were perfectly in the 'Moderate Zone' just the way we like to see them. As a result, we had a very Balanced Cash List, with a wide range of handicaps on the list. We had EIGHT cashers with 25 pins or more, SEVEN with 5 or fewer pins and NINE in the middle range. Nelson Sand was drawing a crowd when he made a run at a true 300 game, throwing the first 10 REAL strikes, only to get derailed by a 10-pin on his 11th shot. The Tour has had FOUR USBC Certified 300 Games in the last few years (Mike Kravitz - Ricky Robinson - Paul Marcello - Mitch Vernon), with Mike and Paul tossing their 1st ones. We ONLY had 2 Members, Rob Turner & Leo Aguiling, sharing the Jackpot Consolation with just 3-No Taps. That left the Jackpot to take a big jump to $2,316.00, while the Progressive Pot also jumped up to a hefty $1,922.00, for next week at Skyway.

Our Bowlero Champion is John Nissen, winning his first Title this year, and 5th Career Title. On a re-entry, John got 'Locked-In', smashing his best ever series, by 22 pins. He shot his previous best score back in March 2008, and didn't even win that Tournament. His spectacular 1092 this weekend, put him WAY OUT FRONT, easily outdistanced the rest of the field by 70 pins. John's current "Hot Streak" actually started before Saturday. I was one his victims on Friday, during the weekly Senior Pot games. At 67 years old, John has a 194 book average, he says he's currently bowling better than he ever has (giving hope to many of us). He attributes much of his improved consistency to what he's learned by bowling on the Tour. John thinks the difference is that he now does a better job making adjustments, after experiencing all the variations from House to House. His wife Nancy must have checked her 'Crystal Ball' Saturday morning, telling John on the way out the door, that he was going to win today. John also wants to thank David Kim, Nelson Sand & Matt Plemmons, for their support and encouragement while they bowled, as well as Al Wormwood and Bill & Shannon Peterson for staying and cheering him on. His 'Secret Weapon' this time was his Storm Hy-Road, drilled by Pat Johns at HiLine. He plans to use some of his $1,844.00 in winnings in Reno, when he goes down in 2 weeks, for the USBC Tournament. CONGRATS John on #5!

In 2nd Place, we had the other end of the age spectrum, with youngster Dylan Leger, shooting an excellent 1022. We'll have to find out what his plans are for his nice $838.00 payday. In 3rd Place, Jon Schneider returns to the Top Tier of the Cash List, after a bit of a dry spell. He takes home $384.00 for his 1012. Congratulations to Christina Miller and Dale Coleman, both earning their Life Memberships Saturday.
