It was both a 'Perfect' and a 'Near Perfect' day at Bowl Arena. The 'Perfect' included, the fantastic and appreciated job done at the front gate. Bowl Arena management and the Gate Security did an outstanding job of making it easy for Tour Members to get onto Ft. Lewis Saturday. 'Perfect' was also 76 year old, and original Tour Member, Buddy Budbill shooting a 290 (322 w/hdcp) in his 1st game to take 1st place in the Vet's High Game Pot. How perfect to have a Veteran of the Korean War take $240 from the biggest ever Vets Pot! Buddy shared 1st place in our very first Vets Pot back in 2006, with another Korean War Vet who's now passed on, Andy Principe. #2 in this years Vets Pot was 'Special Forces' Veteran Earl Kleist, earning $200, followed by Michelle Scheitzach $140, LeFear Richardson $140 & Wes Schlegel $80. Our thanks to ALL the Sponsors who pushed the Vets Pot total to a record $800. 'Near Perfect' was LeFear Richardson who nearly had a PERFECT 300 game, throwing the first 11 REAL strikes before a split derailed the effort on his last shot. The bowlers certainly took advantage of the longest oil pattern we've used this year. We had excellent scores, with the Top 5 shooting over 1000 and a 911 cut score. Only one Member strung 4 No-Taps to start a game, so Ted Sherman happily pocketed the $100 Consolation. That left the 9-Tap Jackpot taking another big jump to $7,704.00 for next week at Secoma Lanes.
Our Veterans Day & Bowl Arena Champion Gary Woldt, returns to the Winner's Circle SIX years after his last Tour Title. Gary won at Pacific Lanes in August 2004 and since then has bowled when his work schedule allows. In that six year period, he's had 12 Top 10 finishes, which included a 2nd and three 3rd place finishes. His 1064 series was worth $1,774 In an interesting coincidence this was also a day for 'Tour Veterans', with Pot Winner Buddy Budbill having Member #39 & Gary owns Member # 37. Gary's Vets Day win is fitting, since he's also a Veteran, having been in the Army during the 60's, serving in Germany. Another interesting coincidence was last weeks winner Eric Pham selling one of his bowling balls to Gary, who used it to win this week. Gary had the Track 920T, re-drilled by Dave Hanson at Pacific Lanes, where he also bowls in three Leagues. Gary's 'good luck charm' Saturday was bowling his wife Karen, who is also a longtime Life Member. Gary said that, he's on-the-hook to take Karen for a lobster dinner to celebrate. He's worked for the City of Sumner for 33 years, which is also how long he's been bowling. CONGRATS Gary on your long awaited win #2!
Three Members had a shot at Gary's score, each coming just a little short, but all finishing with ONE pin of each other. All three coming close to their 1st Tour titles. In 2nd Place, Michelle Scheitzach earned $809.00 for her nice 1051. She just nosed ahead of Rody Sumandig and LeFear Richardson who tied for 3rd Place with 1050's, each taking home $323.00. This was LeFear's 6th Top 4 finish this year. |
