Sorry I missed all the action this week! I was 'abducted' by Margie, to Canada for a wedding on Saturday and wasn't able to escape until Sunday. I enjoyed the stories I heard and it sounded like I missed some fun. As we expected, there were some VERY nice scores turned in this week at Narrows Plaza. Amazingly, more than 1/3 (38) of the 94 entries cracked 900 this week. Ironically, the 'Cut Score' was in the normal range and the Top scores weren't particularly high. That indicated that there were quite a few bowlers that really liked the shot. It was pretty tight at the Top of the 'Cash List', ONLY 9 pins separated the Top 3 finishers, and 4th place was just another 4 pins behind them. Our streak of Tournaments with over 100 entries came to an end, mostly the result of some great weather and the Opening Weekend at the Puyallup Fair. Hopefully, we can re-start that streak at HiLine next Saturday with a "Best 3 of 4" format.

We had only our 2nd 'Back-to-Back' Champion Saturday. Samson Ibale demonstrated what can happen when you get on a "Hot Streak". Samson only had ONE high finish in a Tournament all year prior to last weekend, that coming back in May. You just never know when you're going to get Hot! Ask John Trausch, the only other Member to go Back-to-Back. John had struggled, with only a 5th Place finish in the NINE months prior to his Double Win. Confidence, Timing and Luck are also needed, but when you get HOT, things just seem to fall your way. Last week Samson had some narrow wins in the Finals and this week, a narrow margin of victory that could just as easily been a narrow loss. His 'Clutch Shooting' in the 10th frame is what pulled it out for him. He needed the first 2 strikes in his last frame, to leap frog several bowlers, making a HUGE difference in the payout. His $1,936.00 in winnings was a far cry from what could have been 4th Place money. One difference this week, is that it took him 2 tries, with his Top score coming on a re-entry. Samson also earns "Bragging Rights", by being the first Member to have EIGHT Career Titles! He didn't wait very long in breaking the 3-way tie at SEVEN,with Tong Nguyen and Mitch Vernon, that was created just last week. CONGRATS Samson on win #8!!

Up until Samson's last frame, Dorrie Quirante had been sitting in 1st, looking for her first Title. Her 2nd Place finish, was worth a nice $864.00. Dorrie's excellent 1029, was also her Personal Best score. ONLY ONE PIN back in 3rd Place was another Member looking for his first win. Ray Sedeno's 1028, was just enough to take home a healthy $457.00. Christina Miller has been one of the Hottest Members on the Tour lately, finishing another 4 pins back in 4th.
