TOURNAMENT STORY

There were plenty of VERY Nice scores at Skyway Park Saturday. The big scores came from all levels of bowlers, from +51 pins per game to -8. We're always happy to see a BIG spread of averages, where all levels of bowlers are in the money. No one took advantage of the higher Jackpot Bonuses this week, and the Pot climbs to $4,380.00 for next week at Towers. This weeks Champion, Mitch Vernon, is another long time Tour Veteran. A Life Member, who joined the Tour in June 2002, Mitch is the second winner in a row to capture his 5th Tour Title. Mitch had been in a little bit of a drought, with no Top 5 finishes since his last title, which came in 2007. This win was good for a $1,644.00 payday. A "Clutch" performance was needed in his final game to pull-out the win. Mitch gets minus 8 pins per game and had to shoot a 277 (scratch) in his last game for the win. He rose to the occasion and shot 285 (277 w/hdcp), to win by 9 pins. Mitch used the very popular Hammer "Black-Widow Bite", that he drilled himself, for the win. He was bowling with his good friends Paul Padilla and "advisor" Al Wormwood and he also had the support of wife Diane for his big series. Mitch and Diane live in Olympia and he bowls at Westside (Oly), Bowlero & Pacific Lanes. When asked what he would do with his winnings, he said, "Pay for Gas and buy something for Diane's upcoming birthday". The D.O.T. employee also enjoys working on bikes and cheering on his sons Pro Motorcycle Racing. GREAT win Mitch - CONGRATULATIONS! The leader all afternoon was Bill Fowler, with a fantastic 1082. Bill was way out in front (36 pins) from the 1st squad on and we didn't think anyone was going to catch him. He still takes home a nice $747.00 for his 2nd place finish. Another Life Member and Tour Veteran Edgar Cruz, finished 3rd for $324.00. Edgar has had a tough time getting to any Tournaments, since he works weekends. He actually took a day off so he could enter Saturday. NEXT WEEK: Multi-Cash Doubles at Tower Lanes. 12:00 - 1:30 - 3:00 - 4:30 - 6:00 Doubles: The only Tournament that you can cash Multiple Times (w/different partners). $30 per entry.
