After the 1st squad at Skyway, we thought we were going to have a low scoring day. The next 3 squads had nice even scoring in a normal range for this Format, except for the one record setting performance that won the Tournament. Every level of bowler was well represented on the Cash List. Of the 23 members that cashed, 8 had 9 pins of handicap or less, 7 had 10 to 20 pins and 8 had 20 or more pins. You don't get much more balanced than that! The money is not only going to all levels of bowlers, but also to many different members. Already this year, we've had 179 different members cash and we haven't had a repeat Champion yet either.
Saturday's record setter and Skyway Champion, is "Life Member" Danny Ramos. Danny is a 6 year member, having joined the 9-Tap Tour in its earliest days. This is his 2nd Tour Championship, his first Title came nearly three years ago at HiLine Lanes. Danny has always been an optimistic and positive person, but Saturday he saw an 858 on the board and thought that might be beyond his reach. He considered sitting out until his friends Jeanierose Tabulina and Roland Jarata told him "You can beat that"! A $1,902.00 payday made that a pretty good decision! Danny said he felt like he had a nice line and once he got "Locked-In" it just seemed like he couldn't miss. Every game got better than the one before, ending his set with a 300 game and a record 909 for his best 3 games. He said he likes the "Best 3 of 4" format, because he always seems to have that one bad game, but he never thought he'd have a day where he's be throwing out a 252 game. Those days do come, to those who persevere! Pat John's at HiLine Lanes drilled Danny's Columbia "Big Bully", that he used to "Bully" the rest of the field. Danny has bowled for 30 years and carries a 184 league average with the FABC League at Skyway. He had lots of friends cheering him on and acting as his support crew, Jeannierose, Nate, Pebbles, John, Samson and Roland. He's been with Boeing for 20 years and also enjoys Karaoke (he's VERY good!), Golf and Mariners games. CONGRATULATIONS Danny!
Jon Schneider was looking tough to beat for a while, with his 858. Since Jon had knee surgery last year, he has steadily improved his game with some big Cashes along the way. $680.00 for 2nd place adds to his list of successes. Scott Stansbery joined the Tour in January and had his best finish to date, collecting $480.00 for 3rd place. Twinnet Bowens continued her "Hot Streak" with her second straight 4th place finish, good for $245.00. Also, Ray Sedeno nailed the Jackpot for $100 with his 5 No Taps, to go along with his 5th place finish.
Next week: The $1,000 Added MILLER-LITE/VENTURE BANK CLASSIC at Daffodil Lanes in Puyallup. With the Progressive Pot back up to $2,032.00 this should be a BIG Tournament! The winner should be well over $2,000 again next week! The 9-Tap Jackpot is getting close to $3,000 again, currently at $2,836.00.
