TOURNAMENT STORY

A small group in the 1st squad was not an indication of what was to follow. Two very large squads, in the late afternoon, led to a respectable 83 entries and a Total Payout of $6,163.00, for our One-Day Tournament. Only two members cracked the 800 mark, and they crushed it. We've been very proud all year, at how well balanced the "Cash List" has been, and this Tournament was no exception. This week we had FIVE members with above 30 pins of handicap, SEVEN in the middle with 10-30 pins and FIVE members with 10 or less. We also paid another $500.00 out of the 9-Tap Jackpot, which gets us near $15,000 paid out this year. Roland Jarata, and newcomer C.J. Jones III, each collected $250 for their 5 No-Taps. But, the Jackpot still stays at $6,066.00 for the $2,000 Added - EQC Championship in two weeks. We now have a "King" of the Best 3 of 4 format. Rollie Abella's 2nd career Title also makes him the Tour's 1st member to win this format twice. Rollie joined the Tour in 2006 and started out 2008 on a Hot Streak, but has been on a drought since April, mostly due to a surgery. He SHATTERED that drought today. Rollie re-entered after a mediocre 1st entry and found that Legendary "Groove" on his second try, shooting a SPECTACULAR 883, good for a nice $1,925.00 payday. His score is the 2nd highest winning score ever for this format. When he won his 1st Title in January, he used a Track II that he brought here from New Jersey. For this Title, he used his Brunswick "Inferno", also brought all the way from New Jersey. Rollie asked us to thank his good freinds and bowling partners Edgar, Mike, Mholee, John Bund and John Nissen for their encouragement. And a special thanks to his wife Maribel, who bowled with him today. He plans on using his winnings to go visit Grandkids in California. CONGRATULATIONS Rollie on win #2. Calvin Fisher took 2nd, shooting what would normally be a winning score, with a GREAT 853. He shot so consistently well, that his toss-out game was a 243. Cal takes home a healthy $850.00 for his efforts. Ken Seaton finished 3rd, for his 1st cash on the Tour, good for $495.00. Ken has been working hard to improve his game and his 795 is proof that the hard work is paying off. Thanks to all that made it out this week! It was nice to see some faces we haven't seen for awhile and nice to meet some new members too. INVITATIONS WILL GO OUT THIS WEEK, for the EQC Quaterly Championship, Dec. 6th & 7th at Cascade Lanes. More information will follow next week, for all of our December events.
