TOURNAMENT STORY |
Although we ended up a little short of expectations for the weekend, it was nonetheless a VERY successful and enjoyable weekend. It became very exciting, early in the Finals. By the time we were down to the "Final 16", we only had TWO members left who had won Titles in the last 3 years. So, there were quite a few members with a shot at either their 1st Title or the 1st Title in a quite a while. As usual, the Top Qualifier to the Finals came from the Saturday squads. Roland Jarata's 1112 held up for $490.00 worth of Bonuses, which included a $200 Saturday Bonus, $220 "Black-Widow Venom" and a $70 Jacket. Also for the 2nd straight week, 5 No-Taps took the Jackpot Consolation, this week it was Ray Israel who took home the $250 Bonus. Even with the $250 paid out, the Jackpot still grew this week to a SWEET $6,018.00.
Our Fall EQC Champion is another 1st time winner, Gene Jeppeson. He joined the Tour last April and his best previous finish was a 2nd place at Daffodil. For his effort this week, Gene takes a nice $1,800.00 winners share. He used his Hammer "Black-Widow Pearl", to win this one. It was drilled for him by Pat Johns, right there at the HiLine Pro Shop, where Gene also does his League bowling on Wednesday nights. His family says he owes them all a dinner and it's a BIG family. It includes his in-laws Paul and J.R.King and Ben Dumont, as well as his girlfriend Teresa Atkinson, who were all there rooting him on. Gene is the 3rd straight Boeing worker to win a title, he's been there 7 years. After surviving the final Head-to-Head matches, he commented several times, that he'd NEVER experienced an "Adrenaline Rush" like that in his life. CONGRATULATIONS Gene on your 1st Title.
Edgar Caindec took 2nd place and $900.00 with some SOLID games, including a 287 in the Quarterfinals. Tied for 3rd place was Jeff DeBusk seeking his 1st Title and Gary Woldt looking for his 1st Title since 2004. They each took $400.00 home for their efforts.
SPECIAL NOTE: Paul Marcello had his Bowling Equipment stolen out of the parking lot Sunday after the 2nd round of the Finals. His bag also contained his wallet & cell phone. If you saw anyone suspicious in the parking lot, that may have been hurriedly tossing equipment into their vehicle, please let us know. |
