TOURNAMENT STORY |
After several weeks of Tournaments with higher scores, the HOT weather contributed to help moderate the scoring Saturday at HiLine Lanes. The Top 6 spots were separated by only 25 pins. We didn't have anyone crack 1000 until the last squad, and then just barely. We're VERY impressed with how well everyone "weathered" (withered) the heat! For a while, it looked like it was going to be a Ladies Day. Joelle Reynolds led after the 2nd squad with Deborah Nucci, and Kim Forrest making a run, and coming close to the Top Spot, in the 3rd squad. Instead, it ended up being another day for the Seniors, with our 3rd straight Senior winning a Tournament.
Our newest 1st time Champion is David Rees. A Life Member who first joined the Tour in June 2002, David has been a steady performer over the years. He finally broke through for the Title, with a consistant 1017. David put $10 in the Progressive Pot, so that leaves some extra cash in the Pot to carry over for the Travel Tournament. He still pockets $1,106.00 for the win, plus another $50 that he won from the Jackpot Bonus for his 4 No-Taps. The Heat-Beating weapon that he used for the win, was an Ebonite "Infinity One", from Corey Snider at Secoma. Dave plans on getting a new ball with some of his winnings. David does his league bowling at Bowlero Lanes and the Senior Men's Travel League in Tacoma. CONGRATULATIONS David!!!
Coming up just a little short, in 2nd Place, Deborah Nucci was easily the MOST EXCITED 2nd place finisher in 9-Tap history! She had a 934 in the 2nd squad, which would have been enough to cash, but decided to try and improve on it in the last squad. She went for it and almost won it all with a nice 1006, good for a $659.00 payday. Mike Ducay fought through a bad back that kept him out of the EQC Tournament last week, to shoot a 1004, good for 3rd Place and $372.00. Mike wanted to thank Mr. Advil for helping him get though his games. |
