TOURNAMENT STORY

A nice turnout at Bowlero Lanes Saturday, sees 19 members on the cash list. Lots of members shot some BIG games, in fact, we had some of the best scoring at Bowlero in a long time, with the Top 5 all cracking 800. Again, we also had a broad range and nice balance of averages on the cash list. The last 10 places on the cash list were only separated by 17 pins, with another 12 bowlers within 10 pins of cashing. Our Champion, is another first time winner. Bob Matlock joined the Tour in May, at the last Miller/Venture Classic at Daffodil Bowl. After shooting an "unbelievable" 857 in the first squad, he returned to Bowlero for the last squad to see if his score would hold up. Jim Humphrey gave him a scare, coming up only 2 pins short, thanks to an eight count, in the 8th frame of his final game. If we keep having these GREAT finishes, we might have to start a "Fantastic Finishes" program of our own, like the NFL did. Bob bowls in the Valley Kegglers League at Daffodil Bowl, where Jimmy drilled the "Vibe" that he used to win this one. He plans on using his $1,910.00 winners share to help with the remodel he's doing at home. Bob currently works for Intel, and has also been actively involved with the Boy Scouts for 20 years. CONGRATULATIONS Bob on your 1st Title! Jim Humphrey's impressive 855 was good for an $854.00 payday and his highest 9-Tap Tour finish. Randy Laed shot a very nice 821 to collect $452.00 for 3rd place. Bowlero again proved to be a good house for 9-Taps with Del Wiggins throwing the first 6 No-Tap strikes in the 2nd squad. A 7th frame No-Tap would have been good for $4,331.00 and he rose to the occasion, throwing such a beautiful ball that he got all 10 and had to settle for $500 instead. Lorna Flannery tried to catch him in the last squad, but got her real strike in the middle. NEXT WEEK - $1,000.00 Added MILLER LITE/VENTURE BANK CLASSIC: Narrows Plaza is close to completing the installation of their NEW Lanes and a NEW Scoring System which includes Flat Screen Plasma overhead displays. We get the Honor of being the first Tournament to use this new equipment. Watch Wednesday's email for an announcement and more info.
