A RECORD setting Saturday at Skyway Park! The 111 entries broke the one-day Tournament record of 104 that was set in previous “Best 3 of 4” event. Paying an unbelievable 22 places and a total payout of $5,941. It wasn't “Smooth Sailing” by any means, due to some lane issues at the start of the first squad and some confusion in the late squad. Our thanks to all for weathering those ‘patience testers'. We also had seven members who cashed for the 1 st time this year. That raises the total to 207 different members cashing during the year, with two Tournaments still to go.
Our Skyway Champion is David Hoekman, taking his first Tour Title, with a fine 831, taking home $1,390 ($10 Progressive Pot). David recently joined the Tour at Cascade Lanes. He currently bowls at Tech City, in a Microsoft League and also works for Microsoft. A Brunswick “Twister” was David's secret weapon, that he had drilled at Java Lanes, in California. He plans on buying a new laptop with his winnings (I'll bet it won't be an Apple). David and 3 rd place finisher Kira Spears, both shot in the 2:00 pm squad and returned to “Sweat it Out” through the 7:00pm squad. Needless to say, both he and Kira were very excited that their scores held up. David enjoys time with his wife and two kids as well as softball, basketball, pool and darts.
Last week we commented on Mick Hodge's amazing record of TWO 2 nd, and THREE 3 rd place finishes this year. This week he evens out that record with his THIRD 2 nd place finish, with a nice 820, good for $812. Kira Spears also joined the Tour at Cascade and cashes for her first time with an 817 worth $426.
