What an odd and incredible day at Pacific Lanes! The 1st squad only had 12 entries, mainly due to the 4 hours that I-5 was closed due to a horrible wreck. But, by the end of the day, we had an awesome 96 entries. 10 new members joined the tour Saturday and many of them braved the traffic to come down from Everett, Lynnwood, Snohomish & Mukilteo. Thanks to all the members that 'stuck-it-out' through the traffic jam!!
With $500 on the line for the Strilke Pot Bonus, it seemed nobody was gonna hit it. Then in the last squad, Mandy Haugen hit the first 5 No-Taps, then she hit #6 and with almost $4000 riding on her 7th shot, she made the crowd gasp as the 7-pin stood and then went down late, leaving Mandy to settle for the $500 Bonus prize.
The Ladies recent title dominance took a backseat to this weeks "Youth Movement". 19 Year old Erik Knise, on a re-entry, was the only member to crack 1000, with a very nice 1047. Erik took down $1648 for his 1st 9-Tap Title. Eric said he, "Just found a groove", using his Morich Total Annihilation from the Precision Pro Shop at Sun Villa. For a spare ball, he threw a 35+ year old Brunswick ball that his dad used to bowl with. When asked if he had any special comments, his response was directed at me when he said, "Stop calling me Rookie". Okay... the now Veteran champ wants to thank Paul Padilla, Sue Packman and Pat Johns for their help and support. When asked what he would do with the winnings, he said he was saving up to get his own place, plus he needs a bowling bag. Eric also enjoys Robotics in his spare time and helps the Issaquah High School Robotics team.
The youth movement continued with 20 year old Henry Quirante, Jr taking 2nd place with a nice 992, good for $600. Henry joined us from Robinhood lanes in Edmonds. Edgar Caindec (only slightly older than 20) held on for 3rd place and $410.
