The Hillcrest "Throw-Out Your Worst Game" Tournament WAS A BLAST! There were a lot of real nice scores shot on the wooden lanes and coupled with getting to Toss-Out the low one, the totals got tough to beat. There were over a dozen 800 series shot by both low and high average bowlers. And of the 16 members that cashed, there was a nice balance of averages from the 150's to the 220's The winner, Matt Lawrence got into a groove on a re-entry, throwing a fantastic 859. Matt initially shot a 729 with his dad Steve, but when they shot again in the next squad, mom Vicki joined them and they all went crazy. All three cashed with Steve taking third and Vicki 5th. Matt first joined the Tour at the Cascade Tournament. He had quite a rooting section which included his wife and infant son, in addition to mom and dad. Matt bowls in the Hits & Misses League at Kent Bowl carrying a 149 average. I'm sure the $1439 he collected for the win will be helpful with his young family. In 2nd place, Glen Brown who bowls league at Hillcrest, shot "lights-out" with an 846. Sheri Butler returned to the tour with a nice showing taking 4th. |
