A nice turnout at Cascade Bowl Saturday, with 87 entries. Cascade, in previous Tournaments, has been a high scoring house for us. Early on, we were thinking that the shot might be too tough, with a lot of lower scores coming out of the first squad. By the end of the day however, we had 26 members shoot over 900. I guess Cascade continues to be a center where our members score well. So many real strikes meant NOBODY had the first 5 No-Taps to take away the $500 from the Strike Pot. But, we did have 6 members tie with 3 No-Taps and since we offered to pay ties in full, a total of $300 was paid out of the Pot.
Rich Eaton became the first member to win twice this year. Ironically, we also had 6 members cash for their first time. Rich, who has been on a "Hot Streak" for the last few weeks, shot a nice 1017, for a $1621 payday. The finish for the title was so tight, that four members, in the last two squads, had a shot at the Top Spot. Several of them came right down to the last few frames. For example, Magic Bristol in the last squad, could strike-out in the 10th for the win, but instead, a split dropped him all the way to 5th. Now that's an exciting finish!
Rich, one of our newest Life Members, was formerly a National Paintball competitor, who less than 2 years ago, traded in his paintball gun for a bowling ball. He loves competition and has jumped into bowling with both feet. He usually bowls 7 days a week. He currently competes in 4 leagues, Monday thru Thursday, at Daffodil, Bowlero & Secoma Lanes. Friday he occasionally shoots Pot Games at Pacific Lanes and seldom isn't in a Tournament somewhere on the weekends. His weapon this week, was a Hammer Hawgzilla, drilled by Corey Gardner at Secoma. Rich is self-employed, running NW Gutters by Design. He's now won 3 Tournaments and for his winnings, plans on paying bills and taking the family out to celebrate. He'd like to thank Paul Padilla, Marty Lee and Corey Gardner for all of their help and support.
Congrats also to John Nissen, our early leader, who held on for 2nd with a steady 1006, good for $564. Kevin Nagasawa made it close by finishing with a 294 game, taking 3rd and $439. Our thanks to all that participated and the Cascade staff for making this Tournament such an enjoyable event. Also on behalf of the veteran 9-Tap members, a welcome back to Denise and thanks for filling in for Margie.
