Wildfire
June 9th, 2018
Total Paid Out: $1,112.00
The 9-Tap Tour LV completed another successful event yesterday at Wildfire. Guy Hirsimaki stretched out his first game of his series for a nice 300, thus winning 80% of the 300 pot! The 9-Tap Jackpot got tapped for $50.00 by Renita Moorewith her three taps but will return next week at Texas Station at $982.00! Welcome also to Renita's husband, Lenard who joined the Tour yesterday. It was looking really good for Alan Meyer to pick up his second title going into the last squad of the day in the 'Best 3 of 4' format. Having taken over the Top Spot on the Leader Board in the 2:30squad with a very nice 725 set, Alan only had to sweat out a small final squad. With only one game remaining......just one Member had a shot to bump him off the board. It then came down to the final frames for that Member, Michelle Moorhead, to win her second Title. Michelle was unaware of the score she needed to shoot as she felt her other games had not been good enough to keep her in contention. Without that added pressure, Michelle just continued to give her best effort. The math dictated she had to go "off the sheet" from the 7th frame on to win by 4 pins! Sometimes you can just tell that "luck" is in the air as Michelle got a couple breaks but she also buried a few shots in those final frames also. Her final set would be 729 to narrowly defeat Alan for the Title. As Alan was checking at the desk to see if he had won, I yelled over to Michelle, who was packing up her equipment, to let her know she had won. I had to tell her a couple of times because she obviously was shocked to hear me tell her that. Michelle picks up $516.00 to add to her career earnings as well as her second championship. Alan settles for 2nd place and $238.00 while Charles Fick III rounds out the Top 3 and pockets $100.00. Michelle Moorhead has only been bowling for 18 months but has apparently been bitten by the tournament bug as she plans toreinvest her winnings in more tournaments. She shared with me that she has recently started taking lessons from Bill Hall, one of the best bowling instructors in the industry. Cheered on by her sister and co-workers, Michelle was using her Storm Surelock that was drilled by Haynes Bowling Supply. Congratulations Michelle on your win! I would say your lessons are paying off big time! |
