Our second tournament of 2018 did not disappoint in terms of excitement!  Derrick Chan claimed his Free Entry in the Crazy 8s Contest at 11am while Norris Montague came in second and won a partial credit toward his entry.  The big excitement came in the2:30pm squad as our eventual Champion, new Member Michelle Moorhead, found the combination to CRACK the 9-Tap Jackpotsafe to win $2,570.00!  Adding those dollars to the prize fund generated by 42 entries, the total PAYOUT for the day was a whopping $5,195.00 with 8 Members making the "Cash List".  We also picked up 3 new local Members:  Michelle Moorhead, Dustin Hoffman, and Tony Foresta. With the Military Championship tournament in town we also signed up 2 out of state Members: Steve Miller and April Blount!  Welcome to the Tour!

The Orleans has proven to be a high scoring venue in recent Tour stops and yesterday was no exception.  In the first squad, Darla Cox started following thru her release much better and posted her1000 series (a personal best) to take the Top Spot on the Leaderboard.  At 2:30 however, the flood gates opened up. Michelle Moorhead, bowling in her first 9-Tap Tour event found the sweet spot on the lanes for an AWESOME 1074 along with those elusive 7 Taps in a row!  Al Garcia was close behind with his equally impressive 1059 series.  Bruce Smith moved into third place with his own 1004 mark.  Valiant efforts were made by the Members in the final squad of the day to upset the Top Three.  Alex Watanabe would end up tossing a 300 game to end the day for a 3rd Place finish worth $274.00 as well as breaking the 300 Progressive Pot for $78!  Al Garcia held onto 2nd Place and a nice payday of $388.00!  Our winner, Michelle Moorhead, with that 1074 set won $664.00.  Add in the 9-Tap Jackpot of $2,570.00 it was a huge payday for Michelle in the amount of $3,234.00! 

Michelle Moorhead has been bowling since the age of 11 but only recently started taking the game seriously for about a year.  She wasusing a Storm Code Red drilled up by Gary over at Haynes Pro Shop.  Michelle bowls at Texas Station in the Bigelow AeroSpace company league where she has been employed for 6 1/2 years.  Since this was her first tournament, she told me she was nervous at first but when she got into a groove she felt amazing and focused.  Cheering her on to victory was her supportive wife, Michele, her awesome roommate Eric and her Mom!  Her plans for the cash is to go on a vacation to Florida and visit Universal Studios.  She would also like to thank her fellow employees who believed in her, as well as her ball driller for drilling her ball perfectly!  Congratulations on your first Tour Title Michelle!
