Wrap Up

Crazy 8s kicked things off again this weekend at Wildfire. This week, 11contestants accounted for 14 entries, awarding 1 entry into the main event and one partial entry. This week Leon Pitcher went toe-to-toe with Ron McGinnisBoth bowlers are Crazy 8s regulars, and neither wanted to give up in the elimination round, and in the end, 8s turned to 9s which benefitted Leon as he struck before Ron left an 8 count, giving him a partial entry and awarding Leon a full entry into the first squad.  Leon also hit the '300' Progressive Pot winning $143.00 for his 300 game.

It was a fair scoring affair this weekend at Wildfire, taking a score of 898 to make the ‘cash list’. Ken James was that number as he led the first squad and held on to be the cut for the day.  Henry Murphy landed himself on the board with a 4-game total of 987 good for 3rdplace and a check for $270.00Lenard Blackman came so close to his very first title with a score of 988, settling for 2nd place and a $380.00 payday. Waiting a long time to get his championship shirt, Al Garcia comes through with the win putting together a 4-game total of 996! This is the 4th straight 4 game qualifying event where scores have been below 1000. Other top finishers were Leon PitcherGreg Mamac,Jesse FunkJermal Williams and Ken James. This weekend paid out a total of $2,698.00 with the No Tap Jackpot going ‘untapped’ this week, carrying over $3,207.00 to Red Rock next week. We would like to welcome new members Terelle Paul and Anthony Suico to the tour!

Al Garcia of Las Vegas joined the tour back on January 23rd at South Point in 2016.  Always with a smile on his face and joking around, he has become one to look forward to seeing every week. Al has been bowling for about 7 years with his best finish on the tour being 3rd when the tour visited Suncoast back in July 2016. Al used his Track Paradox for most of the day, drilled up by Keith at K&K-Gold Coast. Al bowls two senior leagues at Southpoint, and plans for his winnings are to save some and give some to his wife. Al is a retired Civil Engineer and mentioned that he “didn’t expect to win today. It’s about time I guess.” Outside of bowling, Al likes to play the piano and guitar. We thought it was an April Fool’s joke also, but do agree that it is about time Mr. Garcia. Congratulations on your first win Al!  Well deserved!
