Crazy 8s got off to an awesome start with 16 people trying to "Win Their Way In" to the main tournament for just $5!  We were able to award entries to Al Sutrick and Skip Samad while new MemberJoseph Gilliland picked up $50 toward his entry!  That is a record for Crazy 8s payouts!   Overall, 34 entries led to 7 Members making the "Cash List" where $2,175.00 was paid out.  Sharon Balboapicked up $50 for her 3 Taps from the 9-Tap Jackpot and Leon Pitcher cracked the 300 Progressive Pot for $70!  We also welcomed 3 new Members to the Tour:  Lowell Francisco, Joey Paez, and Joseph Gilliland.

 

Since this was our "Best 3 of 4" format, everybody got the benefit of dropping their lowest game.  Last week's Champ, Derrick Chanwasted no time in putting his name atop the Leaderboard in the first squad with his 753 series.  Following close behind was John Ferrer(746) and Daryl Jeffries (713).  John decided to get back in with his re-entry at 1pm which turned out to be a wise move.  He improved his score to 785 thus taking the #1 spot from Derrick.  Leon Pitcher was also on his second entry but fell a pin short of John with his 784 set.  As the final squad was coming to an end only one bowler was able to shake up the Top 3.  David Lanford found his way into 3rd place with his 755 score.  This put $205.00 into his pocket for the day.  Leon would remain in 2nd place adding $339.00 to his career earnings.  On the top, winning by just a one pin margin was John Ferrer.  His decision to re-enter paid off handsomely with a very nice check in the amount of $735.00.  Congratulations to everyone who cashed and to our newest champion, John Ferrer!

 

John Ferrer joined the Tour as one of our original 100 members back in 2015.  He did not bowl much in 2016 but in 2017 he is a more frequent competitor on the Tour.  His previous best finish was 2nd place on July 15that Silver Nugget. To come away with his win, John used his Columbia 300 Urge drilled up byZach Hattori at Haynes Bowling Supply.  John bowls in a Friday night league at Texas Station and has been a slot attendant at the airport for the last three years.  He shared with me that in his re-entry squad he felt much more comfortable with his shot making.  He plans on using his winnings to take care of Mom on her upcoming birthday.  He also thanks the awesome 9-Tap Tour Staff for running a great tournament.  Well done John!  Welcome to the Champion's Club!
