Wrap Up

Crazy 8s got us going once again this week at Red Rock Lanes. This week 8 contestants competed and re-entered to create 10 entries earlySunday morning. While almost everyone made it to the elimination round, two members duked it out long enough to move on to 9 counts. Norris Montague and Al Slivka seemed like they couldn’t miss, until Al threw a 7 count and Norris got just enough as he carried 9 pins to win his entry into the main event.  Al Slivka found his groove and popped a nice 300 game winning $58.00 from the 300 Progressive Pot!

Red Rock brought in 13 new members (2 from Puget Sound) on Sunday, bringing the clubs membership to over 500Brian Wyche,Joseph NoyaAlan MeyerMary BallingerBart BallingerOsmond GreenRon CamposJohn MartinTito FernandezAntonio Tan,Brett HaydenSara Evanow and Kara Noya all joined us for the first time this weekend. Welcome to all of the new members. With 47entries, it took a 4-game total of 956 to make the “Cash List”.  9 members made that cut with the tournament paying out a total of$3,089.00 for the day. Al Garcia took a run at the 9 Tap Jackpot when he strung together the first 5 taps and earning $250.00 for that attempt. There was some fair competition this weekend and coming up with his best performance yet was Brian Colegrande who finished with a solid996 series good for 4th place and $165.00. Another new bowler on the top was Anthony Suico who’s 4-game total of 998 was good enough for 3rd place and $219.00. And yet again, we have a tie for the top spot, and a member that can’t get enough of winning. Robert Rawling knew what he needed to reach the bar that Seattle member Ron Campos set. In the end, there was a draw at 1026, and Robert earned his 4th title while Ron celebrated his very 1st title here in Las Vegas!  Congratulations to the both of you.

Ron Campos of Seattle, Washington joined the tour back in 2012 at the Puget Sound Region. He has been bowling since 2008, his previous bestfinish being 2nd place.  Ron used his Hammer First Blood to earn his title drilled up by Pat John at Hi-Line Lanes in Burien, WA. He bowls in the South End Law Enforcement Trio at Roxbury Lanes, Seattle. Ron plans to party with family and friends with his winnings as well as build his bowling arsenal. Cheering him on and competing this weekend was his bowling mentorOsmond Green and cousin Bayani and his wife Carol.  A member of the Seattle Police Department for 31 years, Ron made the trip to Vegas bowl Nationals with Osmond.  He commented he will wear his Vegas Championship shirt with pride in Seattle. He would like to send thanks back home to the Puget Sound Region and mentioned that he enjoyed meeting the 9-Tap Tour LV region, staff and bowlers. When he’s not bowling, Ron enjoys bike riding with 2 events coming up this summer totaling 204 miles from Seattle to Portland over 2 days and another from Seattle to Vancouver, BC for 189 miles. That’s a lot of peddling. If anyone in Seattle tells you that you tied, you let them know that a wins a win! Now that you know how to win.....get one back at home!

Robert Rawling of Las Vegas has gotten this winning thing down quite well.  Joining the tour last year, his previous best finish was 1st place,with all wins coming from this year alone. Staying with his faithful Storm Pitch Black drilled by Kyle at K&K Sams Town, he plans on buying a new softball bat with his winnings.  As always, his faithful wife was behind him as he earned his 4thTour Title and a Gold Champion's shirt. win. Robert mentioned that he was very lucky to win today and that he wasn’t going to bowl again but he hit a Royal Flush in between squads which influenced him to carry on his lucky day to the lanes. As Robert flew off to his softball game, he wanted to again thank the 9-Tap Tour staff for holding the events. Congrats again.
