Ft. Shafter Bowl

June 29th, 2019

Total Paid Out: $5,008.00

Wrap Up

Ft. Shafter Lanes

There were 71 entries that paid 14 places;  handicaps on the cash list were spread out from 0 to 51;  paid out $5,008.00 and the tournament  favorite, "BEST 3 OUT OF 4" format at Ft. Shafter ended on a high note.  Our tournament Champion was new comer Jason Smith, who says, "I didn't feel nervous especially because I didn't know I was in the running to win."  He also says, "it was super fun and definitely unexpected.  Thanks to my cousins Pam and Joe; good friends Karla and Mel Dagdag".

The day began on a "re-oil" of the lanes because Ft. Shafter had put on a "house shot".  It was clear that scores were going to be erratic as the scores indicated at the end of the first squad.  Marcus Jackson started the scoring off "BIG" with a score of 826and  the first squad leader.  Kevin Asato shot a big game in the first squad trailing Marques by 21 pins at 805 followed by Cristian Begazo (772) and Sue Stephens(770).  The second squad produced some good scores but only one that stood out, Sonya Baker shot 793 to put herself at the top of the leader board.   Marcus remained the second squad leader.  The third squad turned out  to be a large squad with 36 entries and members taking shots at the leader.  The score of 826 was beatable and just waiting for someone to step up to the plate.

Kevin Fukuda was on his way to his second title shooting a no tap 300 game to start the third squad but hit a "Wall" in the second game and could not recover settling for 5th Place at 794.  Kekai Seabury missed  his chance of earning his first title after starting the third squad shooting a score of 833 and nosed out Marcus Jackson for 2nd Place.

Jason Smith began his third squad shooting 180 then reeled off three great games 265 + 290 + 299= 854 and stole the championship away from Kekai and Marcus.  It was a demanding pattern but Jason was having fun and not thinking about anything.  Congratulations Jason on your first title and a Storm Ball of Choice.  Jason used a Storm Street Fighter drilled at WLE Pro shop by Keith Odette.  Jason thanks the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on these events, as well as friends and family for all the support and laughter.

9 Tap Jackpot introduces the "Middle Seven"

Our 9 Tap Jackpot has grown to $6,070.00 and that means the "Seven in the Middle" is in play.  Our Progre$$ive Pot  stands at a "Huge" $1,593.00 and the reason for the huge increase of the Progressive Pot is our Champion could only go into the $10.00 Pot.  Marcus Jackson was the winner of the no tap bonus with 4 no taps earning him an additional $125 to go with his 3rd place finish.  Bring a friend or family member and sign them up to bowl on your tour, they could be the next Jason Smith.
