Ft. Shafter

April 13th, 2019

Total Paid Out: $5,454.00

Wrap Up

Ft. Shafter Lanes

We had a great turnout with 76 entries, that paid 15 places, with handicaps ranging  from -5 to 60; paid out $5,454.00; crowned a visiting Champion and paid $1,377.00 for1st Place at Ft. Shafter.  This was a day where we had old members returning; new members joining; and visiting members bowling.  It was fun with great bowling.

Usually the Pineapple Express (ugly weather) is pushed to the West Coast and up to Washington State from Hawaii.  Damn!  This time Washington State pushed back.  Puget Sound's All-Time Champion and Title holder entered and competed in Hawaii Region's Ft. Shafter tournament and proceeded to showcase why he is the 9 Tap Tour's Premier Bowler!

Samson Ibale came to see family and "Paid Hawaii Region a visit".  Boy, did we pay!  Samson made his presence felt as he took the first squad lead with a respectable 978 score.  In the second squad, the brothers Gabriel (Kory and Kyle) both put together great scores along with Andrew Wehausen.  One would guess that it didn't sit too well for Samson as he had relinquished his lead. Suddenly, it was like the flood gates opened up and the third squad went skyrocketing as scores went high.  As the third squad scores were being inputted, the score to beat was a 1031 by Cory Gabriel and Andrew Wehausen with yet a few more bowlers to finish.  Mike Yutaka, 2017 Bowler of the Year, made a bold statement as he posted an incredible 1054, however the "Pineapple Express" made his presence feel like hurricane force winds, bowled lights out shooting 1105.  It was more like a "Depression" because he left our Hawaii members feeling "Depressed". Congratulations Samson!

Samson left Puget Sound with 24 Titles but is returning with number #25 and some cold cash tainted with "HAWAIIAN SALT"!  Congratulations Samson Ibale on your 25th Title!  Samson used a Black Hammer drilled by Ed Dolfey of Seattle, Washington.  He thanks his wife for her support, being his number #1 fan and to the Hawaii Region Staff for the opportunity to bowl with the Hawaii Region members.

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpot

Our 9 Tap Jackpot  suffered a "small kine dent" from Glen Lim who put together 5 no taps and collected a bonus payout of $225.00.  The Progressive Pot showed an increase to $1,424.00 as did the 9 Tap Jackpot to $5,809.00.  Bring the Ohana and Friends to join our Tour and win some "Big Bucks".

Tournaments at Schofield Bowling Center will return to our normal scheduled times, 12 pm;  2:30 pm;  5:00 pm.  Our next tournament will be held on April 27 at Schofield Bowling Center.
